jrstriker12:FWIW - I though the no -aprty chat thing was stopping cross party chat to prevent cheaters in game?
How is somebody in party chat able to cheat more easily than someone who isn't?
I don't quite understand this move by IW, it literally took all interest I had in this game away. I have no interest in the campaign and I don't have any interest in the MP if I can't be in party chat. So instead of spending my money on this, I'll spend it elsewhere. It will also give me a chance to finish up some of my SP games

I'm sure IW had there reasons. I believe it has something to do w/ spectating during certain game modes, so that you can't tell your friends where the enemy is hiding. Then again maybe i'm wrong.

Wouldn't a smarter decision would have been to limit their viewing to the scoreboard? That doesn't have an impact on the service I pay for.

My guess is it's something similar to how it was playing PC FPS with a private channel over Teamspeak or Roger Wilco. Player A sits in spectator mode and observes the battlefield while giving info to Player B who is actively playing the same game.
My problem with this is it doesn't stop this kind of cheating, it only makes it slightly more complicated by needing to use a PC or Skype or a cell phone...
Beyond that, if you need to cheat by using a buddy and party chat (or those awesome people who used to use auto-fire controllers) then you are among an elite few who suck more than the rest of us can fathom.

Yes but i believe that asking to spectate everyone else (enemies included) was one of the more requested features for multiplayer. I think its supposed to help combat spawn camping or something like that. Im not sure.
derekjr: How about a perk to let the people who suck at fps to live at least 10 seconds before they have to respawn again.... I would take 5 seconds really...

As far as I know, this "no party chat" thing is still just a rumor, and if it is true then it is almost definitely limited to certain game modes, and probably few at that.
So... I'm confused as to why people are basing their purchase decision on rumor and falsehoods.

Cheez just wanted a reason.

Did some research last night, and this is what the rumor is based on.
It seems that the general consensus online is that this is only for the Hardcore playlists. Of course its all speculation, but who knows.
Most of the COD gaming I do is in private party chat. I would be pretty disappointed if they removed it across the board.
It's just the icing on the cake...the last time I was swayed to buy a game it was a disaster...That's right tainted, a disaster
Congrats on 8,000 Cheez

I doubt buying MW2 would be a disaster for you. If it makes you feel better, I'll even let you throw a few knives at me

Thanks!

I still haven't finished CoD4's campaign and after deleting my save data (when I only had a 20GB HDD) I don't see me finishing it anytime soon. Are these knives real? Or are you talking about knives in the game?
jrstriker12: The nuke at a 25 kill streak is kind of cool, but I think they may need to raise the bar for some players - like if you can make it to a 30+ kill streak then you DESERVE it. Don't understand what all the fuss is about W@W??? Zombie mode was cool (IMHO - that was about the only thing that was cool about it), but I fail to see how playing WWII games for the 100th time is any more interesting than playing a second version of MW. Honestly COD4 was the first FPS that got me hooked on multiplayer. RE: Bad company - yeah it's fun, I'm playing it now, but the single gold rush mode is getting old quick....

Deserve to kill EVERYONE on the server? It appeared that way (both players on the split looked like they died, but the quality was low). If that includes teammates, the obnoxious level of that perk is about 10x Martyrdom.
W@W, while yet another WWII setting, took the COD4 engine and ran with it, making another solid title in an admittedly tired setting. Still, the zombie mode was awesome, co-op was a step in the right direction, and they finally added Prestige mode for PC players. Short of the Prestige mode, these nuggets of awesome were clearly overlooked in MW2 (no, the Special Forces mode or whatever they've called it doesn't count), a real shame, as urban zombies alone would have been worth the bill.
The next bad company will release on PC as well, and from the early looks of it, take that branch of the franchise back to it's origins in awesomeland. I've yet to play the first one, being a console centric title, but what they're doing with the second one is looking to be nothing short of stellar. Add that to a lower pricetag (PC standard cost), a better overall franchise, and the fact that DICE has assured us of dedicated servers and I've got a game to hype about.
No doubt MW2 will be a pretty sweet title, but as a PC player, it's not looking awesome enough to not be able to stand for some principles for at least a little while and avoid the title.
