PS3: It Does Everything

Mine has yet to do my laundry.

Still trying to get mine to make coffee

If you guys installed Linux on it, you could probably get it to work both your coffee maker and laundry machine.   You aren't trying hard enough.

I only have a 40 gig hard drive otherwise i would have done this a long time ago.  Once i upgrade my hard drive it will be definitely something i install.  however i think my cheap coffee maker will be the bottleneck.

Pm me your email addy for Lockerz invite have 9 left redemption coming soon

I must be doing something wrong then...neither of my ps3's will play my 360 games Huh?

Can one of you guys record a step-by-step (not the NKOTB kind) video and post it on YouTube?  I'd really like to the play the 2 good exlusives the 360 has.  Thanks.

Considering it sold 147K in Japan on day 1 vs the 360's 200K sold over it's lifetime I'm suspecting it'll be coming West sometime as well.   :)

I was actually being serious, but three would have been more accuate (ToV (I know it was timed), Mass Effect and Lost Odyssey)

When does ToV release on the ps3?

Already out in Japan, so it's available today if you read and speak Japanese.   No definitive announcement that it's coming to North America yet, but with the sales numbers it hit in Japan and the growing install base of PS3's  in North America it's hard to imagine it not coming here unless they don't like money.

I think a lot of the windows emulation stuff didn't run great on PS3 Linux, but you could theoretically run Mass Effect on it as well.    ;)

I think I just dropped an IQ point reading this whole thing.   This thread is pretty derailed.   However, like some people have said, you've already bought your console, so what's the point in asking?   And, both consoles have their pros and cons.

360: good online, good overall selection of games, controllers, Netflix, good exclusives

PS3: not as many hardware problems, good exclusives, Blu-Ray

There's more, but those are just some of the main highlights.   Make your decision!!!!   Lol.

I personally prefer the 360, though.

At this point, I would base my decision on whether the real-life friends you're most likely to want to game with own PS3s or 360s.

I own all 3 systems and can honestly say my 360 gets the most play by far. A lot of the games I play on it, though, are also on the PS3. The 360's online is more favorable to me over the PS3, even if I do pay ~$40 a year for it. Like the post above me said, if you have a majority of friends that play on one system over another, buy that one. I mostly play on my 360 probably because most of my friends play on theirs. Also, if you have a PSP, it interacts nicely with the PS3, and I love being able to download PSone games and being able to play it on the road or on the big screen, especially being able to swap games saves between systems. Tough choice, but seriously, Modern Warfare 2 is coming out for BOTH systems, so you win either way =)

Im a tad biased mostly becuase i dont see the point in blu ray.

I guess i settle for "good enough" when it comes to technology. I will say, however, that no ps3 exclusives interest me. Cept for MGS4 and possibly the last gaurdian becuase its made by the colossus guys.

And we're just forgetting about that "fine art" bull? The hell did he mean by that exactly? the rest was drivel not even worthy of coming out hitlers mouth but that was confusing, is he arguing that a game console is artisticly superior? im just not getting it...

The big difference in blu ray vs dvd is not only quality of picture but there's a huge difference in the storage capabilities. A DVD holds less than 5GB of data, whereas a blu ray can hold up to 50GB of data. That's a lot more available content per blu ray disc. A game like Lost Odyssey for the 360 was spread across 4 discs. On blu ray it would have taken no more than two, if not one.

I'm sure it can probably go a lot more in-depth technically, but that's what I know. I'm not trying to spark an argument either, just helping inform the point of blu ray technology.

I'd admit Blu ray wasn't enough to make me rush out and buy a player, nor enough to convert my entire DVD collection, but with Goozex I've been able to slowly add to my BRD pile and I love the quality of these discs.

I'm not sure if it'll catch on like the VHS to DVD transition, but with a big HDTV, it's worth it to me.  Not to mention players can be found for around $100 now, so the whole ordeal is getting cheaper.

...and you guys already covered games and storage space.

Not to mention the cool pop-up menus on blu-ray Pizza
