So I got a sweet deal on the pack yesterday so I decided to pick it up.
The silver matted handheld looks great. Much better than finger print disaster glossy black. Anyways, I charge it up, all pumped to play Grand Turismo (while waiting for ever for GT5), pop in the disc and start. I get a screen saying that you need a specific profile update to play the game.
Pretty sad if you ask me. I mean, yes I can do the update but you would think that their handhelds would be updated for this game upon release of the box. I'm just thinking of the kid that gets this and can't have his update right away. Sure he can play other things in the meantime (if he got other games when he got the box) but if he receives it as a gift before say, heading out for a trip, well he's pretty much screwed.
A little effort please....
And THAT was my rant of the day!
Are you talking about the firmware? You can install it from the disc can't you?

+1. If a PSP game requires new firmware, the firmware is on the game UMD.
Oh man, I guess I read the update message too fast. I'm so used to firmware update messages for the 360 and PS3 that I assumed it could only be done online or by downloading a file and putting it on the PSP.
Is putting it on a UMD disc like they did a standard practice for PSP games?

Yes it is. Also, PS3 firmware can be updated the same way for people who do not have broadband internet.

As far as I know, every game that has required a certain firmware has it on the disc.
Guess I woke up smarter this morning
