Different strokes for different folks....I'd rather buy COD: MW2 for $60 and get $20 credit (via Amazon).  Which, in the end, equals $40.

$40 (dollar to point ratio) = 800 points.  1/3 of 2400 points.

But if you've got tons of points saved up, then I'm sure it's worth it to you.

Others would rather spend no money at all, but instead use virtual points that cannot be spent elsewhere.

I understand that, but they only way I see it being worth that many points, is if you've got a butt-load saved up where 2400 wouldn't make that much of a difference.

For example: Lets say I've got no points, so I send out 2 newer games (1000pts) & 1 that's maybe 6-8 months old (500pts), spending 2400pts on a new release just isn't worth it in my eyes because you're out 3 newish games...but again, that's just me.

I'm glad I waited around an didn't bite.  Sunday night I got an email saying I was matched for the game, where as the day before I was number 186 in line.  Kinda cool how that works sometimes.
