I have an issue I couldn't find an exact match for in the forums, so I hope I am not asking a question that has already been answered. I received Red Faction: Guerrilla on 10/23/2009. I left positive feedback on that date per the condition and shipping time of the game. Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to try installing it until Saturday, and when I tried to activate the game, it stated that it was already activated under a different email address. I have sent a message to the other trader, but I wanted to know if I have any recourse if they do not get back to me. Am I out the trader points and credit?

PC games should ALWAYS be installed and tested to ensure proper activation. Honestly, the best you can do is email feedback@goozex.com and hope they work with you. But the fact you left a positive already may leave you hanging dry.

Self-follow up ... as I had forgotten the response ...

The G-team decided to leave this as tradeable, with the following update to the Tarde Info:

Trading instructions:
In order for your item to be tradeable through Goozex it must be unrestricted and not in violation of the title's EULA! If the access/registration code(s) are tied to a previous user's email account, then the item is NOT TRADEABLE, and negative feedback is appropriate for unplayable. It is the seller's responsibility to not offer a locked, pre-registered item.

So you should contact feedback@goozex.com and get a dispute going.

Necrodaemon:

Red Faction requires activation for the SP as well as online play. I am a SP campaign only type of player, so that is the only reason I posted the thread. Luckily, the trader got back to me and we are going to see what we can do.

Glad to hear it!  Hopefully everything works out.

I too was surprised - I bought my copy on GamersGate when they were having the excellent 'pre-order and get a discount PLUS Red Faction 1 & 2 free' sale.  Yet I STILL had to lock my code to GfWL - bottom line is that the install says "Do this or Cancel Install" ... sort of like things that lock you to Steam.

That seriously sucks. I did not know that. I just shipped out a sealed copy of the game myself. The buyer hasnt left me feedback yet. I hope I don't encounter the same problem.

For older PC games it's not a problem as they are CD-Key activated or have no protection on them at all. Newer stuff, I think that both parties should be in communication to clear up any activation if its required. Remember that not all new major releases have this. Ex: Sims 3 uses the old CD-Key. You don't need to register it online.
