I just wish Ryan Howard woke up before his homer last night.  Then, things would have really been interesting.

I was quite pleased to see him take the new lead as strikeout champ personally.  I'm surprised the announcers didn't make more mention of it though.

I was quite shocked to see him hit that homer though.  After being falsely hailed throughout the WS as a threat, to actually see him pull through in Game 6, even for a moment, was worrying.

Listening to the radio in the morning (in Philly, mind you), 60% of Phillies fans blamed Ryan Howard for the losses leading up to Game 6.

That's gotta suck.  My initial reaction was that one player on a baseball team can't make that much difference, but look at what happened when we were back in New York and we could stick Matsui back in the order.

No offense to any Phillies fans here, but the CBP fans have no class as I have said before. Not even comparing them to the NYY fans at large, but I've never heard so many negative and borderline obscene chants on a broadcast as I did in games 3 and 4.

The entire team lost it and it wasn't just Howard. The top 5 failed to produce any .300 averages.

Jimmy Rollins 5-23 .217

Shane Victorino 4-22 .182

Chase Utley 6-21 .286

Ryan howard 4-23 .174

Jayson Werth 5-19 .264

The 13 strikeouts stand out because those never result in sacrifices, advancing runners, or errors.

I hadn't been watching the Philly side of things before the WS, but if Howard was as powerful and awesome as everyone was making him out to be, home run slugger this and that, to come up so woefully short in the WS to actually set a new record in strikeouts, doesn't surprise me that he's taking a lot of the blame, as I'm sure him in the #4 spot was a big comfort going into the series.

It's not fair to blame the loss on him and him alone though.  The Phillies overall weren't terribly hot at bat, and hell, the Yankees had a few guys around .100 too I think.
