Yup. I did say that. I stick by it too. I'm not going to walk on eggshells and pretend that everyone's opinion is valid, no matter how wrong it may see to me. In many many cases, you're right. You shouldn't call an opinion stupid. However, in this particular case, whether it's your actual opinion, or just one you voiced for the purpose of debate, it was stupid. Some people are of the opinion that child molestation is not only acceptable, but beneficial. Guess what? That opinion is also stupid.
I know what you were trying to do, by twisting it so that I'd agree with your opinion. I still don't think that it's worth paying $10,000 to fix a cat, because a cat is your property. People aren't property, animals are. If someone hits your dog with their car they have to pay you to replace the value of that property, they don't face vehicular manslaughter charges.

Much like imposing one's personal values/ideals on another and judging them for their actions. You can't control what others think or do and it really doesn't have much of an impact on you one way or another.
If somebody wants to pay $x for a surgery to save the life of something or someone they love why should their actions be discreditied?
