Especially for east coasters like myself.

I live on the East Coast as well and have no problem with the current set up

I get up at 5am...so it's kind of inconvenient to say the least...

didn't say it wasn't inconvenient for you; just implying that All East Coast users might not share your sentiments

Earlier time to put up for request is a good idea I'd like

There's a simple way to both reduce server lag and make the system fair for all.

Don't randomize or lotto places in line. Randomize the time each game is released. On release day, let the game be released at a random point during that 24 hour period.

Instead of everyone just sitting around hitting refresh (or whatever technique you use to get your Top-10 spot...), you'd just check the site periodically throughout the day.

The site would lag all day as people keep refreshing constantly for 24 hours. Don't say it won't happen, because people will do it.

This is one of the options being discussed by the G-Team. Basically, every Tuesday new title releases would be scheduled at random times throughout Tuesday.

The problem with this is that no one would know at what time the game would come out, and would need to keep reloading to check.

The solution to this is to show the exact time each title will be released. The time would be anywhere between 0:00 to 11:59:59 on release day, different for each title. By knowing the time, a user may know when to come back to the site and attempt to get his spot in line (or set the alarm :-) ). By spreading demand over 12 hours or 24 hours, it would reduce server load but also give a more fair chance to anyone to get in line.

Here's my idea: Let's try to come up with the most convoluted and difficult to implement suggestion for the G-Team to add and see what they think...

No matter what happens, there will ALWAYS be people complaining! Add a lottery and all the "unlucky" people whine about how they are 300th for MW2. So instead of going through the effort to change a system that has worked for a long time, why would the G-Team change the current system only to have roughly the same number of complaints? Hence, why all of you should expect nothing to change any time soon, if ever.

knowing the time would be nice if this were to be implemented, but i still don't think this is really going to reduce the server load that much, also how soon before would one know when the game was releasing?

The probelm I see with this is that at least at midnight/1 am, essentially 95%+ of the people on Goozex are there for the new releases requesting and so those are the ppl experiencing the server slowdown..   If you say had a release at 3 pm, you'd have some server slowdown, except now it might interfere with users during the daytime just trying to check in and do some browsing or day to day business.

Also the 1 am eastern/midnight central time may be an inconvenient time, but for most ppl it's a time when they can be free if they absolutely needed to.  (You might have to stay up later or wake up to be free, but you could be free).  A time like 2 or 3 pm is less so, as ppl may have school or work obligations etc.

I personally support a 6 hour or 24 hour window prior t the release date where pre-release requests can be made and randomized in a lottery at midnight.

This won't reduce server issues. one AAA title can crash the site know matter what time it is released.

6 hour or 24 hour window prior t the release date

This is not possible. What is possible is to delay the available of a new release by 22 hours... making it available on Goozex at 10:00 pm CST on Tuesday night...

Or, as an idea discussed above, delay all new releases by a random number of hours (say 0 to 8) so that a new release may come available on Goozex between midnight and 8 am on Tuesday morning. Goozex will let everybody know the exact time of release within 2-3 days before release date.

That's still a concern... meaning that we could only allow new releases to become avail in low server load periods (somewhere between midnight and 8 am).

Would prefer this over the latter
