I have this, but have only played the first level because I've heard it gets really hard and I get frustrated by hard games very easily.

Should I venture forth or quit while I'm ahead?

Play the game it is good fun but can be a bit hard at times.  Always make sure you buy or get health it sounds stupid but if you get an autosave with 1 bar of health at an tough spot you are gonna have a tough time.  Early in the game this happened to me (subway tunnels i think) it took me a long while to get past it when that happened as there was a boss at the end (snake flying thing not easy w/ 1 bar health).  Wasnt far from the beg. and I acutally considered restarting, but eventually made it through. Beat it and you will be ready for Bayonetta which in my opinion is a bit superior

This game was such a dissapointment to me. I LOVE ninja gaiden from the xbox and have the black edition bough via live. That one was hard but it was fair. You knew if you got killed it's cause you weren't fast enough or good enough. The second one feels so much more cheesy. The camera was annoying and caused me many deaths.

Overall, I'd recommend the xbox version over this one.

I really am tying to get into this game.  Played through the first 3 chapters and just can't find the will to play on further.  It's probably one of the deepest hack n slash (If there is such a thing) titles to come out in some time, but I think part of it is I have a hard time getting into the genre.  It's not all hack n slash either because you need to be somewhat defensive or you will get lit up.

I'm finding the game to be fairly difficult even on the easiest difficulty setting, so that is probably leading to some of the source of my frustration. 

Anyone have any opinions before I throw this game across the room into the garbage?

I got stuck on the 3rd boss I think.  Been a while.  After 200 attempts I gave up.  Camera is horrible!  I wanted to like it but gave up.

I'll say this about the difficulty of the game.  I platted Demons' Souls.  I'm loving every second of Dark Souls.  This game, though.. after trudging my way through the "story" and then many hours of doing nothing but dying on the final boss of the game, I eventually sent it out without beating it.

So, I like hard games, but they've got to be fun.  This just wasn't, after the first couple of levels.  The thing is, compared to the first Ninja Gaiden, this one is like easy mode.
