right now im currently on verizon DSLits about $34.99 monthly and the speed on speedtest.net is...i want a new internet and i want to see wat u guys r using and wats worth the moneyim not really happy with my current internet service so im open for suggestionsi looking for a fast/decent internet speed at around $30-$40 per monththanks
I pay around 40/mo. But i do have Cable/Phone/Net from them.
I've got my internet bundled with my sat/phone and pay over $100/mo
Qwest seems to have some latency issues. I know some others that use Qwest and online gaming is a horrible experience for them as well. (if we can even play) + their customer service lacks
In my opinion, Comcast would be the way to go if it were available to you.
Very decent price coupled with amazing service = win.
Mine is from Time Warner bundled with Cable, $75/mo, plan to upgrade my speed when I get a job.
My stats are similar to those of IrishFan. I have a little slower upload speed. We pay 50-60 dollars a month, but we have expanded cable (with 6 DVR boxes), internet, and phone all on the one bill. We're also on Comcast.
I use Time Warner and it's $80 a month with cable

Crapcastic and I'm only paying 20 dollars for the service for the next 6 months or so.
I have no problems with RCN's service for the most part.

First, call Verizon and see if you are eligible for a speed increase. (if you live with 4 miles or so of their central office, you should be able to get 3.0 mbps) if you can't get an upgrade, ask for the price for 768 kbps (which is your current tier) and demand to be put on that price if lower. at home I have Verizon Fios Triple Play for $95 (w/o taxes and cable boxes) with a 10 mbps up/2 mbps down connection (and I average around those speeds)
As for my current speed:
but that is over wireless, my best is:
wow u guys have crazy internet speed
i was thinkin about road runner but ill give comcast a call
thanks for all the replies
I have Charter.
20Mb Download 1Mb Upload.
Probably around $160/mo with digital cable and this 20Mb service. Major rip off.
When I buy my own house and I'm not tied to what others want to get, I'll be seriously considering dropping cable TV completely and just getting a good broadband connection. If I want TV shows, they're easy enough to watch online.
Biggest hassle would be sports viewing, but I'm sure there are other suitable options.

usually you only have one or the other. cable companies usually don't compete against each other in the same area (RCN is the biggest exception to this rule) if you have comcast for cable, you will have comcast for internet. vice versa, if you have time warner for cable you will have road runner.
Could look into a local phone company. Many provide DSL services.
