I've got my internet bundled with my sat/phone and pay over $100/mo

Qwest seems to have some latency issues. I know some others that use Qwest and online gaming is a horrible experience for them as well. (if we can even play) + their customer service lacks

In my opinion, Comcast would be the way to go if it were available to you.

Very decent price coupled with amazing service = win.

Mine is from Time Warner bundled with Cable, $75/mo, plan to upgrade my speed when I get a job.

My stats are similar to those of IrishFan. I have a little slower upload speed. We pay 50-60 dollars a month, but we have expanded cable (with 6 DVR boxes), internet, and phone all on the one bill. We're also on Comcast.

Crapcastic and I'm only paying 20 dollars for the service for the next 6 months or so.

I have no problems with RCN's service for the most part.

Videotron in Canada :). I know not going to help but I thought I basic high cable high speed service might also show that the OP is getting screwed. Mine comes to about 35$/m

First, call Verizon and see if you are eligible for a speed increase. (if you live with 4 miles or so of their central office, you should be able to get 3.0 mbps) if you can't get an upgrade, ask for the price for 768 kbps (which is your current tier) and demand to be put on that price if lower. at home I have Verizon Fios Triple Play for $95 (w/o taxes and cable boxes) with a 10 mbps up/2 mbps down connection (and I average around those speeds)

As for my current speed:

but that is over wireless, my best is:

I have Charter.

20Mb Download 1Mb Upload.

Probably around $160/mo with digital cable and this 20Mb service. Major rip off.

When I buy my own house and I'm not tied to what others want to get, I'll be seriously considering dropping cable TV completely and just getting a good broadband connection. If I want TV shows, they're easy enough to watch online.

Biggest hassle would be sports viewing, but I'm sure there are other suitable options.

usually you only have one or the other. cable companies usually don't compete against each other in the same area (RCN  is the biggest exception to this rule) if you have comcast for cable, you will have comcast for internet. vice versa, if you have time warner for cable you will have road runner.

Could look into a local phone company. Many provide DSL services.
