So what does everyone think about Project NATAL for the Xbox 360. Do you think it would be worth it. I mean from watching the trailer on the official website, fighting games for example don't look as if it is "real fighting" as opposed to 'punch' 'kick' 'block' 'dodge' because I know that I played boxing for the Wii and I was disappointed. Then again that was Wii sports, and this is just the first step in actual "virtual reality simulation" for home gaming consoles.

It'll probably resort to flailing like on the Wii.

NATAL stands for not at all.

Looks really interesting, but it's the actual implementation that will tell.

It's all in how they program it and use it.

QFT - the software applications will make or break it.  Only time will tell there...

What i'm also wondering is what they will actually decide to name it when it hits retail.  They could stick with Natal, but from what I was aware that was only a codename.

Well Peter Molyneux says it's going to be awesome, and he's never exaggerated something like that before!

It looks really cool but I imagine that it will suffer from unresponsiveness problems.  Frustrating moments where you die in a game even though you shot the enemy, except the sensor didnt pick up that you curled your finger to pull the trigger that one time.   Or your character moves to the right, even though you didnt want him to, just because your roommate or wife, happened to cross across the room in front of the TV to get to the kitchen.  Voice recognition problems where you say one thing but the mic doesnt understand it clearly.

The other thing I noticed in demos of it was that there was a slight delay between when your body did a motion and when the character on screen did it.  Delay or lag in responsiveness can also kill experiences.

It will end up being somethign you trot out at parties or when you entertain guests kind of like Wii Sports. Which isn't a bad thing. Wii Sports is awesome.   But it's not going to change the face of gaming.

One thing I wish they would look into more is the head tracking thing that Johnny Lee demonstrated using wii remotes on YouTube.  That looks awesome.

It will be fun especially if it works with FPS games

The TV in your room turns on in the middle of the night. The volume is on max. Milo pounds on the screen. He screams, "LET ME OUT!" He gets out. Then he kills you.

Ah crap now I won't be able to sleep the day that I get one...... Angry

Seriously though, I see NATAL as more than just a gaming device and everyone should too. NATAL could be a major revolution in communications and how we use entertainment tools in the living room. Of course talking to someone from a webcam isn't new but the fact that you can now have this "plug and play" and sit with the whole family to talk to someone and see them, is very attractable for some. The process of "talking to your console" as well as no longer needing a remote for browsing is a neat idea (it's very Minority Report style - waves at the folks at MIT Stick out tongue) In all, it's everything that MS promised years ago: Run everything from 1 unit (console - or computer)

And of course we have the games. Much like the Wii, its going to a hit and miss for games using sensors. Some games are simply not made for them. I think the "Exercise" games will be brought up a level though.

All this is great...if it works.

Of course there will be bugs at first, and much like the Wii with Wii Motion Plus, there will be improvements as time goes.
