Sorry to be a Buzz Killington but I've received this game via Goozex and the game installs fine but on first launch, you need to tie the product key to an email address.  I tried but my product key was already tied to an email address (previous user's I'd imagine).

I would have thought it would be transferable but it appears, from the Red Faction EULA, that the game can only be registered to one account for life.  Good luck to the other people in trades for this right now!

Edit: Just noticed, the game DVD itself even says "Do Not Lend".  WTF?!

Has anyone else had trouble with this?  I see 3 trades down and 7 more in progress...

Have you tried contacting the seller? There was situation here recently with another game that had similar issues, and it was resolved by the seller giving the buyer a new email address and password to log in; not the best solution, but it might allow you to play the game.

If that doesn't work, see if the seller will accept a trade cancellation if you agree to send the game back. Otherwise, it's "Unplayable Disc" negative feedback.

Official response from THQ's support dept:

THQ:

Thank you for contacting THQ Customer Support.

The key is now tied to the original owner's email address. THQ does not have the ability to release or remove the key. We also do not provide support for used or second-hand games.

I've worked it out via a not so great method but I'm afraid the game should be listed as untradeable to avoid future headaches.

The same just happened to me. Got the game. No way to install it legally. Only option is for previous owner to provide me his email address.

There are a few threads on this already.  RF:G is infected by the worst PC game utility ever - GfWL, that locks the serial and gives the customer nothing in return.

Goozex decided to leave this tradeable, but has modified the trade info last week to make it clear that a user serial = untradeable = negative.

The GFWL utility wasn't the issue in this case, just THQ using their own sort of activation process.  I should have read the EULA first as it clearly states the game is non-transferable...
