I'm a former business major doing finance consulting. I like numbers. Leave me alone. Feel free to elaborate in your comments.
Think of how much you've saved at the point with ALL of your points. The following is an example.
-If you invested less than $50 for a 1000 point game (or vice versa), 100 points is worth less than 5 bucks.
-If you invested $50 for a 1000 point game (or vice versa), 100 points is worth 5 bucks.
-If you invested more than $50 for a 1000 point game (or vice versa), 100 points is worth more than 5 bucks.
Think of your points in 100 point blocks.

Well thats a tough question. If I buy games to trade in to Goozex I get my points for about $2.50/100pts. But if I am taking games out of the system to sell so I can get some new release games faster I get $10/100pts.
So my points are worth $2.50/100pts when I put them into the system and $10/100pts when I take them out of the system.
I like numbers too (BBA w/Accounting & Finance majors)
I went with "$5 < 100 points, I'm getting a great deal"
There are so many ways to value points that no one way is incorrect, it's whatever makes sense to the user. Having said that I ignore the purchase price of all games I buy and then later trade out. My reasoning is that, to me at least, it is a sunk cost so it carries no weight in my valuation. No matter what method I decide to use (Goozex, eBay, EB Games, keep it, etc.) that money is gone and it's not coming back. Out of those options there are honestly only a few I consider viable; Goozex, keep it or trade it in elsewhere. I don't want to spend the time or energy to actually sell any game I buy.
I'd have to really look at what I've sent games out at (Goozex point-wise) and use a rough estimate of shipping costs ($1.92 to ship within Canada and $4-something to ship to the US) to get what my perceived value of points actually is. It would be interesting to see how much below $5 it actually is, but I really don't care to put the effort into it

points arent really worth anything to me as I reuse most of my points over and over so they are just a set value towards something when divided into 100 points blocks because they can easily be reused. I know they must be worth more than 5 dollars per 100 points when that is taken into account.
I believe there isn't any direct value from points to dollars as points have no recognition outside of Goozex therefore making them worth a total of zero dollars... saying that... points are worth nothing; they cannot purchase anything so I accept the fact that I send out games, get nothing in return, and then some games I wish I had magically appear in my mailbox...

We'd be arguing semantics here if it was true value. It's why I said THINK.
About 60% of Goozex value.
WTF is this Zune everyone is talking about?*I voted for 100 points < 5 Dollars because there have been times where I've bought a game for $20, paid S+H, and got 950 points back, or 30$ for high points. But in the end, I just view my points as points.*Sike!

To me there's more to it than just "are you saving money or not", cause it depends on how you use it and stuff. For instance, I just sent out 2 DVDs that cost me a total of $7 combined to buy when I bought them, but to send them out cost $6, so for the $10 in credit I got for the DVDs I spent a total of $13. One would think then I'm getting ripped off, but if I tried selling those DVDs elsewhere I would have gotten maybe $2 for them if I was lucky, but I got $10 in credit here. $2 for DVDs I paid $7 for? or $10 for DVDs I paid $13 for? I'll take the latter.
It's the same kind of concept for games, if I pay $60 for a brand new game, I might be able to sell it back for $20-25 if I'm lucky after playing it...but if I trade it on here I'll get $40-50 for it. It just depends on how you look at it. For DVDs at this point you can't really think about how much you spent on them, you're going to take a loss somewhere because it's a dying format, but getting $5 back for them (which is the case for most of them) is better than nothing, and even with shipping figured in you are making a profit, which is a big deal since there aren't that many places that wil even give you anything for DVDs anymore. Like I said, it's a dying format, so making any money off of them is a plus.
For me I'd say the point value is maybe just a little better than dollar value, but only because places like Gamestop are such ripoff artists. The real plus is being able to bypass the ripoff and get a real accurate value for what your product is worth, and I think Goozex is sadly much more accurate than most brick and mortar stores when it comes to this. If you are inspired you can even buy into good deals at brick and mortar or other online retailers and get more for your buck using Goozex's points system, but personally I'm just glad to use it to get accurate representation of fair market value, which is too hard to find nowadays.

I also said 100 gp < $5. Just because when I started out here I had maybe 5 games, luckily most were high demand high gp value. I haven't bought a game since I started trading here and I now have about 8 games sitting in my den, 1500 points in my coffer and a few more in my offer queue about to go...
100 pts < $5, the token system insures that.
XboxTripp: 100 pts < $5, the token system insures that.
Tripp does make a good point. Does everyone take into account the $1 token and shipping?
Points are nothing. They are just a medium to compare values of different games such that currently: 1 Uncharted 2 = 4 Orange Box PS3s = 2 Dead Space PS3 = 1 Batman Arkham Asylum PS3, etc

Now, I only managed to get an Associates in Accounting before starting a career in IT, so I may be a little off, but with your financial knowledge you should know of depreciation, right?
None of these choices seem to take into account people buying games they WANT, PLAYING them, and getting the MAJORITY of their value back in trade, but rather assume that everyone is just buying games to immediately flip them. As a result, I again voted for the Zune.
Overall though, points are/should be valued at 100 < $5 unless someone is solely flipping here (poorly I might add) and/or purchasing points. No one seems to account for the passage of time, the enjoyment received out of a given title, and that they want full value for their trade, regardless of age.

waiting for someone to point that out. collecting any old game is not like collecting baseball cards...and even then, those are worthless nowadays due to overprinting....
