robdog:

FEAR and Dead Space made the hair stand up on the back of my neck a few times.

Definitely agree with FEAR and FEAR 2

Fatal Frame was by far the creepiest I've ever played.

I have to agree with Fatal Frame.  There were times I had to stop playing.  Never had that feeling with any game before.

The creepiest game I've ever played has got to be Sneak King.

For me it was Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly (Xbox) and Clive Barker's Undying (PC).

The King is a pervert.

For pure creepy: The mother****ing mall level of Condemned. No contest.

The first scary game I ever played was Resident Evil on the PS1. The scene when you walk in the hallway and the dog jumps through the window, I almost pissed myself.

Later on, I found that I can't play F.E.A.R in the dark, because everytime the game slows down because there's a ghost near you, I freak out.

I've just started the Silent Hill games. Also, after reading all of these reviews, I'm going to pick up Fatal Frame and Clock Tower.

I can't choose just one, so here are the several that come to mind:

  • Resident Evil
  • Resident Evil 4
  • Doom II
  • Condemned
  • BioShock
  • D
  • F.E.A.R.
  • Dead Space

Isn't it sad that we can almost refer to that hallway scene in resident evil as old school? That was by far the scariest moment i've ever had when i was gaming. That needs to be prefaced by the fact that i was in elementary school when that game came out.

Dead Space hands down, could not get the courage to finish it so I traded it away. Will never want to finish it too....lol

I'm at the very beginning of Dead Space now and I have to say I have never jumped or scream so much at a game. I hate how some of the necromorphs run at you. Creeps me the fetch out.

I can't believe any of you were scared of Dead Space or FEAR. I can perfectly understand it making you jumpy, but creep you out enough to actually scare you? Do you jump and piss your pants when fire alarms go off? How about cell phones?

As far as I know, my cell phone has never left a trail of dead bodies on its way to attacking me.

They're both good games, but I didn't find them scary at all. Atmospheric yes; but hardly frightening. How can a game be scary when your character is armed to the teeth with automatic and explosive weaponry? Wink
