I've decided to trade off a few games on here that I feel are "keepers", but I am not currently playing, and then re-acquire them later and a hopefully lower price point (or would it be point point?). The only drawback I see to this is potentially getting a game in worse condition than the one I traded off, or possibly a game inflating in value when I request it again (although I think the risk here is low when selling 800+ point games).
Just curious if anyone else engages in this practice and what the experience has been? The way I figure it, if I trade a game and then get it again later for anything more than 100 points cheaper, it makes up for the transaction cost of shipping + the $1 trade token. Plus, I figure there will be some games that can be re-purchased 6 months down the road for 300-500 points less than I got them, earning me a nice point bonus to better fuel my gaming habits.
I'm more of a buy high, add it to my stockpile, forget about it, sell low kind of guy.

Standard.
i sent off RE5 at 1k points
i was gonna get it back at 850, but now I hear talk of a motion control version so I might wait.
I also traded GTA IV off at 900, then got it back at 450, so :-P

Sadly, this is me as well... I've often thought about doing it, but, eh... As for condition, most of the stuff I get, and I get quite a bit (not g-nitro or anything, but still), is in pretty good shape, and I'm very anal about that type of thing. Most things do go down, and most of it pretty fast, but some stuff never goes down. If it's high volume, it's a pretty safe strategy. If it's more obscure, could go either way. Love the term point point, btw.

I'm the same way also.
I haven't successfully done this yet, but I have sent out a few titles I'm aiming to get back shortly, as they've dropped 100s since I sent them. I too worry that they may not come in as nice a shape when I get them back, but here's hoping...

yeah, I'm fairly anal about some stuff too, so that is one of the things kind of holding me back... but, of the 5 games I have received so far with Goozex, I would consider 4 of them to be in a condition that I was quite pleased with, and the 5th was fine too, just missing the manual... as for the volume, I am starting with Killzone 2 and LBP, so I figure those will probably still be traded pretty regularly in the next year at least...
I don't keep 1000pointers. Sorry, If I get them high it means I'm trading them back in

why the hell would you want the motion control version? Adding motion controls to ps3 games hinders them rather than enhance them as they are usually pointless
Also to answer the thread i tend to get games low and hang onto them i also get games at 1000 pts beat them in a week or 2 and ship em right back out
It's possible, but IMO a few hundred points simply isn't worth the time spent min/maxing

Tell that to RE4 Wii Edition...
From what little i've read about it, the RE5: Alternative Edition (or whatever the hell the wind up calling it) should have support for the PS3 motion controller (or whatever the hell the wind up calling that) and a few extra elements in the game itself.
More than likely, it'll have you hold the PS3 controller one handed and use it nunchuck style, while you aim with the motion controller in the other hand. I have yet to be sold if this will be a good thing, but again, RE4 Wii was actually a marked improvement over the PS2/GC version.
Regarding the thread topic, 80% of the 1000 point games I pick up on Goozex wind up being traded back as soon as i've beat the game to my satisfaction. Sacred 2 was probably the last game I got with full intentions on keeping.

I skip the "Sell High" part and go straight to the "Buy Low". I either don't get high-priced games, or I buy them for keeps.
