I reluctantly moved to CT from NY myself last year.
That blows, I have a semi bad cube here at work, but no one looking over my shoulder, just no window view, half of the peeps w/ window views so don't deserve it... just good timing on their part.
If you want the internet browser to disappear off your taskbar I suggest this:

Just keep a program related to work in the background, and then when you press the hide button it will get rid of your browser windows. I find it a bit more useful than alt+tab. Just change the hotkeys to something more convenient. There's also a minimize all button, but that probably looks really suspicious.
I'll give that program a look; it too sounds useful.
The move is final, and I hate it. I've only been here a little over a year, but that cube was mine...this one feels awkward AND public...bah.
I did find myself a new, near silent keyboard though, but unfortunately that's the only improvement. I haven't been able to find an angle on my monitor that is both secretive and productive...everything is odd.

C'mon, you knew it would happen... this year things just seemed "off" for the BOsox, even w/ that many wins in the tough AL...they just didn't seem to have that magic.

Also consider decorating your area with anything that will cover those mirror surfaces. Stickers posters calendars anything. You can get away with it easier if it is something your boss is interested in too...

Maybe you need to get a privacy screen filter like they have at banks so it darkens your screen and makes it so only you can see it. Here is an example product if you need a reminder of what im talking about.
You could always see if you can find a really crappy LCD monitor that has a very low view angle. This way you have to be squarely in the center of the screen to see whats on it.
