. Jack Black does his own thing, and if you don't like it, that's fine -- you don't have to. However, I grew up with guys like him and Chris Farley, and I still to this day find his silly kind of humor really amusing. I loved the Pick of Destiny, it was epic! Dave Grohl played the devil in that movie...DAVE FRICKIN GROHL!

I dunno, it's just my opinion that if you're too pretentious to enjoy Jack Black, then you probably don't enjoy much of anything.

Wait a second, if you think Jack Black is unfunny now you're "pretentious?"  Jack Black's entire schtic is pretentious.  His "real" personality is even more so, I've heard interviews with him numerous times and his whole thing is "meta" humor, although he did finally admit that Pick of Destiny (the epitome of a vanity project) flopping did at least humble him a little.

BTW Chris Farley was my fav SNL alum from the 90s, and I can hear him rolling over in his grave now that you mentioned him in the same post as this base hack Jack Black.

Jack Black is just a very annoying person.  His whole gimmick of "METUL" is a joke.  He is about the biggest poser there is in most terms, and just plays annoying characters.  Even the sound of his voice to me is like nails on a chalkboard.  So yes, thats reason enough to hate this game.  Why would I want to play a game that I can't stand the main character's VA?

While we're at it

I actually like Invader Zim. Hate hot topic, hated the movie 300, loved the graphic novel 300

I don't get why so many people are hatong on this. Jack Black isn't the funniest guy ever, but he has done some great stuff. Bob Roberts, School of Rock, Even Kung Fu Panda (to an extent)! I think he's a perfect fit for the game's setting and humour. Tim Schafer has also made some amazing games in the past, and the demo was a blast (Wow! That was unintended! I'm Serious)! Really, I don't see any fail in this (unless you count Brutal Thoughts.)

I completely agree.  I thought the demo was very fun, and i happen to enjoy jack black.  I think the setting and situation for the game made jack black a good choice for the role. (but then again, that is just me)  He may not be the best actor, but i happen to like him.

Nawnawnaw, you don't get what I'm saying at all. I'm saying that the irrational hatred of "Hot Topic", "Goth", "Metal", and a comedian whose "schtick" is to over-act and over-react to everything being as silly as he possibly can in the meanwhile....THAT is pretentious. The irrational part about it is what makes it pretentious, because there is no rational reason to be so negative about any of this stuff.

This kind of thing usually stems from behavior and mannerisms learned in highschool, when you tend to find one group of friends who will for whatever reason irrationally hate another group of people and anything that your said group thinks they "stand for". Basically, this kind of behavior is precipitated for the cause of acceptance, meaning that if you want to be accepted and you want to be "cool" in your group of friends, you'll rag on whatever the "hate of the week" is.

In recent years some of the more popular "hates" have been...you guessed it...Goth...Hot Topic...Metal...ect. Jack Black is new to me, but from what I've read I haven't seen one good reason to irrationally hate the guy, so it fits with everything else. Maybe I'm a tad off here, but I don't know, it just gets to me when people can't get over a highschool mentality of everything and step into the real world and accept things for what they are.

Nobody is saying you have to like the guy, but like I previously stated, it's not like he's stealing his material right and left from every other comedian in the world like...well...Carlos Mencia. There's "hate" over Mencia too, but at least that is justified, there is rationality to it.

As a side note, I highly doubt Chris Farley would have any problem with Jack Black, because they might not have the same schtick but they were both pretty silly guys and probably would have gotten along rather well with eachother.

...and yeah, that irrational hatred of Invader Zim because it's "goth" or whatever from mrkekeru is kind of what I was getting at for the most part. When I was saying it was imposible not to like the show, I was really just messing around, kind of it the style of...well..Jack Black, if you will -- over-reacting to something that's really not that big of a deal. If you don't like that kind of humor, that's fine. I grew up with it, and I loved it and use it all the time. I threw the 300 reference in to highlight the gag and somehow it got interpereted that this must mean I LOVE that movie or something......my, the inner workings of the brain are fascinating!

However, I was being serious that I've never met anyone who didn't like the show. In fact, I mentioned to a few of my friends today that I found a guy who doesn't like Invader Zim, and called it the worst cartoon ever, and they were more shocked than I was. I don't hang out with any particular group of people or anything, so the fact that the show appealed to such a wide audience of my friends was what shocked me about your feelings towards it -- I've honestly never seen anyone talk that way about that show, or anything Johnen Vasquez has ever done. To paraphrase something one of my friends said: "Okay, I can understand if you don't like the show if it's not your thing, but that doesn't make it the worst cartoon ever."

You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.

I find Jack Black to be overrated but not particularly bad enough to dissuade me from being interested in something he's involved with. I dislike Invader Zim because it is immature and extremely poorly written. It's as funny as going to church with my old granny, or cleaning my room. Are my opinions influenced by high school or what particular crowd enjoys what? No, I don't give a damn about anything except quality. There is nothing that makes you sound more pretentious than going armchair 'sociologist' on some guys over the internet and making ridiculous assumptions.

I see the world through my eyes and my eyes alone. If I dislike something then it might as well be the worst thing in the world, because especially regarding something as unimportant as a children's cartoon, opinions are meaningless.

Jack Black is the most unfunny "popular" comedian of all time.

That title would be held by Dane Cook.

I don't understand people who think Jack Black is funny, then again I've never met any.

Hi I'm bob. Now you've met one. I love Jack Black especially in all the Tenacious D bits (from Pick of Destiny to the HBO show). His kind of humor isn't for everyone but I deffinitely know many more people who like Jack Black than dislike him.

I thought the demo was funny, Tim Schafer rules.

Although, the graphics really aren't that great, oh well.
