Kenny007:

Is Favre expected to stay with the Vikings after this year though, or is this his last season?

2 year contract, last I checked.  But with all that flirting he's been doing with the idea of retirement recently... I wouldn't count on it.

he'll probably "retire" 5 more times before he is done

Pizza guys are getting worse and worse looking. I guess all the good ones went into porn.

I wish I could retire for more publicity...

...then again I'd probably just stay retired.

Really will you all STFU im mean comeon, what effect does Farve retiring or not really have on your life,  Are you somehow getting hurt by this?  I don't get it, the guy changed his mind we all do this, its a big life altering event for him to retire or not.

lol, settle down champ.  It really isn't that big a deal, but not being a super football fan or anything, even I know of his tomfoolery concerning his multiple retires and his love of the limelight.  It is a bit ridiculous.  The third time he 'retires' is going to be met with skepticism to be sure.

Calm down and keep it civil. We're just having a discussion.

Favre is a tool, tool, tool, a big giant tool.  Just like every other athlete that whines and complains until they get their way.  I could care less how many times he retires, but I cannot believe he feels "wronged" by the Packers.  He is definitely the douchiest douchebag athlete (next to Burress) I've ever seen.

Nice troll comment cheese.

I've been telling everyone that the one thing MN needs to really start winning games is a great QB. Once I heard that Farve might be coming to MN I was excited because after watching him before he was hurt last year he was still playing very well.

So what if Farve battles between retiring, lets see you do something you love in the same league for what is it 16 years? I'm sure he has gone over it many times over in his head but to leave something he loves doing has to be tough on the guy.

Now I personally love watching athletes who play for the love of the game and Farve is at the top of the list.

To whoever posted that Farve is fucking up his stats, are you retarded have you even been watching him. You might want to turn on the football game and see that the Vikings with the help of Farve are now 4-0.

I only skimmed through the posts quickly since there are 4 pages already.

Last warning, ladies and gentlemen. Keep it civil, watch the language, and avoid name-calling.

Just my opinion of Favre and his drama.

Then why isn't he playing for the league minimum?  He's not playing for the love of the game, he's playing for the money (and the ability to do Wrangler commercials).  Which is something all professional athletes do.

We all would do it if it made us extra money, just watch him play it's pretty exciting to see someone who generally loves the game to still be playing while he turns 40. I'm pretty sure other teams could have came up with more money then MN did, if he really wanted it.

I'm sure not a lot of other teams want a 40 year-old QB, but when you're #1 is Tavares Jackson, you're options are limited.  I will give Favre credit, he isn't an idiot.  He went to a team that had a very similar offense to what he ran in GB.  That's why he wanted to go to the Bucs last year and got pissy when he got traded to the Jets.

I really believe his only reason for "retiring" from the Jets was to get out of there and pick his destination.  I do not like the growing trend of players who are under contract dictating where they play.  IMO it is poor professionalism and not done by those who actually play for the love of the game.

I agree with you on the breaking contract part is not healthy for any profession. We'll see if in the future the NFL really sets something in stone here to prevent it completely.

Allow me to play devil's advocate, here... Because his claims do have some merit.

Though I don't dispute Favre's tool-ocity, and I agree that the whole thing has been blown out of proportion (now more than ever), that doesn't mean that the Packers didn't do anything wrong.

The fact is, after Favre retired for the first time, he came out publicly and said that he jumped out of the game a little too soon.  It was at this point that Thompson refused to grant Favre unconditional release, and that's where all of the drama and nonsense spiraled out of control.  It became a bit of a, "if I can't have you, no one can" sort of thing.

Both parties are at fault here, IMO.

Unfortunately, it's not just in the NFL.  NHL douchebags do it all the time (Heatly being the latest).  It will be interesting to see what happens when the NFL has a work stoppage after next season (I believe).

Tampa was where he wanted to go last year, Gruden loved him, he was familiar with the offense and Gruden, then the Jets came in and went for it.  Just seeing the way he acts with the players and his body language compared to last year, I dont think he was ever comfortable with the Jets.  Players on that team even have commented about the Jets locker room during the offseason.  He was retired and didnt want to play there anymore, the Jets actually released him as well.  Then Childress calls him up and kept checking on his health because the Vikes wanted him, and it probably helped that the Packers were on the schedule, haha.  Money was not the reason he came back.  Things between him and Thompson fueled this more than money.

Think of this too, the average professional sports athete's career is something like 6 years.  Anytime anyone ever brings up money and pro athletes I just shake my head.  Its a business, entertainment.  If you had a job that you might not be at in 6 years or less and you had the chance to make the most of it financially, wouldn't you?  I have a hard time hearing when people bring up money and athletes :)  Get over it people, and try not to take it personally which is what it sounds like, lol.
