criminolelawyer:I guess i need to find this purple shield you speak of, if i might venture a guess, is it in the area that the pike equipped red demon is guarding in the first world?
I think it's where the two dragons are sitting. I need to go find it, too.

Indeed. I think it was a PWWT situation for me when I finally nabbed it, as there were no dragons in sight and I was able to saunter around leisurely grabbing all the goodies (there's a few rings, the shield, and some other nonsense up there).
When I originally saw all the shinys, I just plowed at it but the dragon cut my search off short.
I just got the shield's 22 STR requirement covered the last time I played, so I haven't used it much in battle, but supposedly it's top notch.

acsguitar: Hey what do you guys think of rounding out a charecter in NG+ will I get pwned. I'm straight mage now but could I up my stats to be a mage who can use a dragon bone crusher?

Rounding your character out can only help in this game. I wouldn't focus on the strength for the dragon bone crusher, though. It looks cool, but from the time I got my greatsword to +2, it was stronger than the dragonbone crusher. I'd suggest aiming for a claymore or flamberge if you want a large sword. Uses less stamina and swings faster, does a considerable amount of damage. Make it a crescent one, so that it relies on your magic skill to determine its damage, and you'll be ripping things apart.
I don't know my exact stamina, but my stamina bar is higher than my health bar, and my health is 1200. With the stamina regen ring, I get 4 swings of a dragon bone, 5 of my +4 dragon greatsword, or 10 of a claymore before being out of stamina.

It's pretty good. I used it for 95% of my first play through. By the time I got to my second play through I found the dark silver shield to be more useful, as the magic resistance helps against all fire spells, which are 99% of the flames you face, aside from the dragons. The smaller size also lets me riposte, which can't be done with the large shields. But until you have another shield built up with colorless demon souls, the purple shield is your go to guy.
Colorless demon souls? What do they add to the shield? +1s? They don't use Hardstones after a while?
I don't think I have any colorless yet...I'll have to keep an eye out.
Colorless souls are what you use to upgrade special weapons, like the dragon bone crusher, the dark silver shield, and the other named weapons that can't be upgraded with other materials.
You can find one in 1-1 in the execution grounds, get two from shiney the hawk girl in 4-1, and other places I don't remember off the top of my head. Most of them you'll get from primeival demons though, which only show up 1 per world when in pure black world tendency.
For your purple shield, upgrade it to +3 with hardstones, then use cloud stones to change it to a dark purple shield.

I must say, i am thoroughly enjoying this game. I haven't even been playing MW2 or FIFA (my game of choice) because I am completely hooked on this game.
A fairly easy way to beat the flamelurker is to revive right before the boss and then summon a blue phantom to help you. If you're careful, the two of you should have no issue in dispatching it.
The only boss I had trouble was the Tower Knight, only because when I reached him, my character had little hp and stats and was severly underpowered. At that point, I got into MMO mentality, started farming souls and then it was much easier.
There are a few instances where you can hit bosses with long weapons (halberds, spears) without them being able to hit you.

Thank for the advice and welcome to the forum
Should I go NG+ with my mage or create a TanK and start over?
NG+.
No reason to start a tank, just focus on your stamina, hp, and dex for a while when you level up. You'll have a tank mage in no time.

Sweet I'm super psyched.
It's awesome you get to play again. I'm surprised you made it through the queue so quickly, but it's cool.
You need at least decent magic and physical combat, so you already have very good magic, you just need to work on the physical. You already have like 2/3 of a well balanced, take on anything with ease, character, so why restart? I went the other route, being melee/backstab heavy, but it's the same theory.
