Well Dragon, Crescent etc... only go to +5, try and get those to +5 if you can asap, Dragon LS and Crescent Falcon you find are both good keeper weapons
Getting the Quality/Sharp etc... like others mentioned depends on your build. If you want STR go w/ Crushing etc...
Personally I have a mixed build, 30str30end shooting for 40 END 24 dex 18 magic, 24 faith 18+ INT.. My build is for weapons/items/spells I like. so Meatcleaver, Moonsword.... I just like to have access to as many unique weapons as I can

Suddenly I get that 'You've been invaded!" message and start hyperventilating. I stop, say this is ridiculous, and tell myself "I've got this bitch" and throw on my graverobber ring (another weekend find) and run up a floor with my back to the wall, overlooking an early chokepoint in 2-1. I wasn't sure what I was looking for, but I knew him when I saw him. As soon as he'd almost passed, I lept down. Apparently he'd seen me and pulled a bow...his mistake at this point. Led in with a few swings, which apparently spun him around, then backstabbed him for the kill. It was probably one of the most gratifying moments I've had yet as I carried on to beat the level. While I still don't feel SUPER confident in the game, my skill is slowly growing. At 10-12 hrs, I do feel a little 'behind', but I am enjoying some of my more recent successes.

Nice, although if he pulled a bow out on PVP.. he must be a n00b... that's like asking to be killed. unless he had 99 dex and white bow?
I only logged a lil time in DS, tried to get the named BP in 5-2...screwed up, did not bring Dragon Bone or Meat Cleaver so I couldn't chop her down and keep her down enough, always got her to lik 15% health then the swamp wont let me run fast enough and she heals.
If I had only brought my 2H knockdown weapons..so frustrating, ... of course I got the colorless demon soul from that level finally, but that removed by PBWT... so now I can't get blind.
Realized I cant get PWWT until I beat the final boss so Ill try that this week and start over in new game+ for PWWT all worlds... and for some more purestones

It sounds more complicated than it is, although I used the halloween thing to get everything PBWT. That's kind of the key, if you want special items and colorless demon souls (which you do) the easiest way is to shift to Pure Black first. Just die a lot in body form in a level... (resurrect in the nexus)
Once you get PBWT, you can kill the BPs, the Primevil demon, and the boss (in soul form), that should make it PWWT
I didn't really manage that as I had already killed many bosses before PBWT so I need to wait to New game+ but the WT events are definitely worth it...
Especially if you are farming ores for upgrading weapons. Get PBWT for much much much faster drop rate, get large sword of searching equipped on 2nd slot and farm in PBWT and you'll save yourself many many hours
For instance if you want hardstones and sharpstones, turn world 2 PBWT, farm the BP spawn after activating the elevator, you can hop in kill all the flame pikes and pick axe guys in a few minutes, zone out and rinse repeat.

I still haven't found the purple flame shield unfortunately...nor do I have the stones needed to rez that many times...I think I have 3 so far.

Go left before the bridge. There the Red and Blue dragon will be waiting to burn your face off. Hit the red dragon with magic for a year and a half and he'll fly away like a little girl dragon.
Then go loot that area but watch out for the blue dragons tail as it will smash you good

lol I was considering doing just that tonight (albeit with arrows), as I saw a lot of shimmering goodies near them the first time, only barely avoiding the blast of flames from the dragon.
My wife rolls her eyes when I play games with treasure in them (UC2, this one) as I'm always preoccupied with the accumulation of treasure, usually capping off my searching by muttering 'Treasure' from the couch, then yelling at the pixelated objects that stand in my way of it.

LOL my wife told me that she thought I was becoming weird because I used to only play games with guns and shooting and now I play games with wizards and dragons. She thinks all games in fantasy worlds are World of Warcraft. She found a demo of WOW I got from Gamefly like 2 years ago and was like "Are you playing this!!!" half joking but also half horrified if I was.
There is a spot by the dragon where you can stand and not get hit by the flames and still hit the dragon. It was marked via a Message when I did it. It's by the wall the dragon is sitting on. But not too close or he'll bbq you

Hah, I just got back from class today and played a few rounds of PVP. Two matches in a row I invaded with 20% hp/Clever Rat/Morion/Second Chance and killed my opponent in one shot, doing over 1K damage. The third PVP was with my mage pure mage, and I one shotted this two handed claymore weilder with a fireball. Good times.

As for Purple FLame Shield, you can get it without killing the dragon, that's how I got mine, you can time the flames and grab at least 2 of the items, you will die, but fear not death brave warrior... gear >>>> souls
It's pretty easy to get the Second Chance spell... for the Purple Flame, you can get every item, incluing the +50% equip burden ring if you time it correctly.

Enlighten me if you will:
I'm a little noobish when it comes to invading. Only invaded once and have been invaded several times. I understand the entire combo with the exception of invading with 20% health. I thought when you re-zone when invading you reset to your max health as a phantom...maybe i'm wrong there.
Can you bring yourself down to ~20% health before invading and have that carry over?

I backtracked from 1-2 to the dragon area and grabbed everything. It was odd that the dragons weren't even there, and I don't remember killing them. I still need a few STR for that shield, and I didn't immediately see why it was so awesome, so I'll just take the forum's word for it.
Tried to beat the 2-2 boss; took about 25% HP off before I got cornered and beat to death....poor, lost, 16k souls...
