BTW there is a miracle that will allow you to warp back to the nexus with all your souls. So if you get 100k souls and are too scared to fight the end boss you can go cash them in. :( why did I sell this game
Gary Johnson For President 2012!
Ok reactivated Demon's Souls Disc Only. Hopefully someone sends it to me :)!
Yea...I saw that. 20k is a TON to me! I did have 5k once, but spent them super fast.
I've probably lost another 5-10k on the battlefield...lol.

Kenny007: Is there a reason to pick up the tons of duplicate swords and shields and such that I found all throughout 1-1? I saw no method to sell them, so I'll presume there isn't one, so I just banked them. Is there higher end thief armor later in the game?

No, you don't need more than 1 of any piece of gear. That was confusing at first, why keep dropping garbage loot? Answer - they follow MMO model, but subtract cash/vendors....
The more I read this thread, the more I don't want to open my copy and just rid myself of it. I have a feeling I won't be able to control my gamer rage (which can be pretty bad).

It's really not that hard once you get used to it. 1-1 is the most frustrating level IMO just trying to learn how to play
It's not that type of game. I hate, HATE cheap games w/ cheap deaths. MAdden 10 AI on all madden is the epitome of cheap and gamer rage, when the CPU cheats to be competitive.
Demon's souls is NEVER cheap, NEVER cheats. 99% of Deaths are because you did something wrong, or got surprised.
Death by PVP - other player is just better prepared or more skilled
Death by Boss - bosses hit hard, have lots of HPs and require specific tacitcs. But are never cheap, you can beat any boss with any player build. If you die, it's because you need to adjust tactics.
Death by yard trash - even tho DS is MMO like, the yard trash unlike MMOs hits hard, and gangs up on you. If you die by yard trash, you know instantly what you did wrong.
Death by falling - there is no jumping so no cheap jumping deaths. Falling deaths are either during combat, or when you are intentionally falling trying to reach hard to find hidden items.
Demon's Souls does not induce gamer rage IMO. Because when you die, it's like "oh damn I knew it". not "Wow that was cheap again"
You die because you were undisciplined and did not follow your own plan, OR it's the first time in a level and the game is designed to surprise you in a few traps and such.

Thats a pretty good explanation. Also you can slip into the "normal gaming" strategy and die over and over. Like Man I don't want to fight these jerks again I'll just try to rush through them. And then they kill your face off.
That said you should list it disc only

I actually do that "run past these clowns I don't feel like fighting" a few times.. it always ends badly :)
I can't trade out my fav PS3 game :)
Hex got it spot on.
DS is hard, ridiculously hard at points, but not cheap. I get pissed, but its at myself, unlike other games like SFIV (WTF Seth?!) or COD:WAW Veteran mode (hope you bought stock in the local grenade factory).
You still might get pissed, I think that saying you wont isn't accurate, but it won't be at the cheapness of the game, only mistakes made by yourself. Everything can be beaten and passed, but I'll be damned if this isn't one of the hardest games I've played.
Megaman and Super Ghoul's and Ghosts had a freakin' kid inside my PS3....
Agree with the above. With the exception of a couple of times i've rolled to clear a gap and wound up rolling slightly in the wrong direction leading to a death, i've really never felt cheated when i've died in DS.
There's always something specific you did or did not do that can improved on your next attempt. Sure, you'll die alot in DS, but depending on how well you analyze your failure, you continue to improve and understand stage layouts and enemy weaknesses.
IMO, the most frustrating part can be just starting the game. I kind of had a "thrown to the wolves" feeling first trying to to grasp everything in 1-1. Once you overcome that lesson, the game opens up and feels more rewarding as things start to become just a little easier and your character takes shape. DS will smack you around a bit later on with new stages, enemy types and strategies to employ, but by then it's alot more fun than frustrating.
@Nitro: Eventually take the dive and try the game out, but bring your "patients" cap when you do. It does take a few hours (and deaths) before DS gets into it's proper flow and very likely you'll enjoy the experience.
@acsguitar: Sorry buddy, keeping my copy. Best of luck in getting a DO copy soon.

Yeah looking back at 1-1 it was like being a puppy on the freeway. I had a particularly hard time understanding what stats meant and why I wasn't getting any phat lewts.
BUt it's a far cry from cheapness like Respawning enemies in COD3 or enemies in a FPS that can take head shots and not react.
