I'm growing to hate the Flamelurker in 2-2. I think i'm dealing with him the right way - just trying to keep evasive and use the pillars to my advantage while I unload with damage from a distance. Even with the Purple Flame Shield, fire resistance ring and Water Veil spell, his attacks are capable of ripping me apart if I make a mis-step or he rushes in and combos me properly.
Had him down to 1/4 of his health twice now in 4 tries...try #5 coming up.
Question about the dragons in 1-1 and 1-2. I went back and noticed their gone from their roost in 1-1 but they should still be nuking the bridges in 1-2. Is their any way to fight them properly now, or did I miss my chance after they left the roost in 1-1?

The dragons left the roost because you are at a 90% or higher world tendency for Boleteria Castle. You didn't miss a chance to fight them either. You fight the red one in 1-2, from the top of one of the forts, just pull out the bow and go into manual aiming. Fire one arrow each time it swoops down to breathe fire. About 30 minutes later it will die.
The blue dragon you take down in 1-4. Run straight at him, before he gets situated and starts breathing fire (this is once he moves to being directly above the stairwell/door you're trying to get to) and get yourself right below him. Lock on with either your bow or a spell, and fire away until it drops about 15 minutes later.
For tips on flame lurker, check out earlier posts by ACS, when he was giving me advice on the same enemy. Basically, the best place to fight him is on the left side of the room where there's a giant spine and ribcage. You can use that as a barrier, walking around it and keeping a lock on him. Just peek out to attack him from time to time.

Good to know. I haven't read up too much on the differences that come with changes in world tendency. Time for some research and then a dragon hunt.

On try #8 I finally took him out, but wasted alot of resources in the process. Nothing that can't be farmed and replaced.
After I took him down, I checked the room after and noticed a message over by the ribcage: "you are safe here". I put 2 and 2 together and figured there was a much easier way - lesson learned (2 lessons if you count the "read the thread for past wisdom" lesson).
As frustrating as the game can be from time to time, I have to say i'm very impressed with DS. I haven't played a game i've just sat down with and played for hours on end while losing track of time since Fallout 3 (although this is a very different type of awesome) - that in itself speaks volumes to me.

I just beat DS last night and have since started on my New Game +. Wow, things get a lot tougher.
It also sucked (but was simultaneously awesome) that I had to play through the very first level again (1-1) without being able to spend souls on levels. I had about 100K in souls from the final two boss fights, and I had my body. So about thirty seconds after jumping into the level a Black Phantom joined me. Then another. Then another. And another.
I made it through with the help of a totally awesome Blue Phantom, but damn was it a crazy and intense time.
Now I can't make it past that ****ing Armor Spider.

I had about 100K in souls from the final two boss fights, and I had my body. So about thirty seconds after jumping into the level a Black Phantom joined me. Then another. Then another. And another. I made it through with the help of a totally awesome Blue Phantom, but damn was it a crazy and intense time. Now I can't make it past that ****ing Armor Spider.
That Halloween event was awesome, finally got finished farming L. Hardstones. I made the mistake of upgrading a Broadsword to + 8 thinking I could get the Morion blade... ROFL I meant to upgrade BASTARD sword, already did the Broadsword to Searching Sword...wasted at least 2 hours farming shaprstones I didn't need.
I haven't beat the final boss in game1 yet. My bow doesnt do enough on the Blue Dragon in 1-4 and I haven't even attempted the Dragon God in about 30 soul levels. I attempted the 1-4 boss 1 time but forgot to bring my penetrator sword so I didn't have a piercing attack, then he DE-LEVELED me... ouch.
Was trying to farm Colorless demon souls but only got 3 in Halloween PBWT and tweaked my stats to get the 18/18/18/18 required for Blueblood sword, next up is 24 faith for Moonlight sword, then 24 dex for white bow.
getting 50K souls just for 1 point is getting to be a real grind.
I'm still missing a few special items like Beggar's Armor in 5-2, for some reason I can't seem to find the slug that drops the set, I may have missed it the first time and now lost the chance?

Gah...just beat him earlier today. Took about 200 arrows at the first bridge and then got directly underneath him at the second and unloaded with Fire Spray and wasted another 10 or so Fresh Spices to finish him off. Ostrava died fighting the blue dragon so no way of getting the key from him (since I think he needs to be alive once the dragon is dead) meaning no Demonbrand sword for me on this game. Sucks...

He can de-level you?? Didn't know that and now i'm glad I took a break from 1-4 after killing the blue dragon. I think I may save him for last...
You can get the mausoleum key from Ostrava's corpse, as long as you don't die or go back to the nexus before you get it. I already have my Northern Regalia, so if I can summon you (dunno since our levels are so far apart if I could summon you) I'd be willing to drop the mausoleum key I currently have in my inventory for you.
As far as 50k souls for one attribute point, tell me about it. I'm at around Soul Level 120, and paying over 90k for one point. Killing the reaper at the beginning of 4-2, then jumping off the cliff to respawn it instantly helps a lot for getting some levels. Have enough for one attribute point after only a couple minutes of that.
Was the halloween thing cool? I played a bit on halloween, and didn't notice anything at all. I got bored looking for something special and ended up just summoning blue phantoms in front of the penetrator fight and casting resurrection on them the instant they joined for about 20 minutes. Got one angry message, and a lot of happy people who sent me thank you's via psn.
Game should be here by Thursday....I hope I find it awesome.

If you use the Morion Blade and the Clever Rat's ring combined with the White Bow <30%hp you can kill the dragon with minimal effort. The Dragon God is really easy, all you have to do is pull a few switches, just make sure you two hand your weapon to destroy the rocks.
At the guy who just started New Game +, I don't know how you build your character, but when I faced the Armored Spider the second time, I used Warding + a Ring of Fire Resistance, and then charged him with my Soulbrandt and took him out fairly quickly. I only needed to heal twice, and block his extended fire attack with my Purple Flame Shield +5.
