I personally won't be buying stuff off the exchange for that price, but to each their own I suppose.

At its face value, yes, the items are overpriced compared to other items in the Goozex marketplace.

BUT............ (you knew there was going to be a but, right?)

One must consider that as a business move, Goozex is not receiving any direct payment for these purchases. They of course did receive indirect payment for tokens and surplus points, but from a macro point of view, they are flushing out pseudo-currency from a closed system -- currency which may be later replaced by the outright "real dollar" purchase of new points.

So considering that the Exchange is primarily a member benefit/service and that Goozex doesn't receive any direct compensation for purchasing items on the member's behalf, I'd say the values are just about right.

P.S. If I am misunderstanding some fundamental point about the Goozex economy, please kindly correct me.

While I will not be purchasing any items at that price, I can't really comment on the overpricing. I've seen many threads where people compare GoozPoints to cash, and usually this part comes up: They're really not equivelant. Although you can buy points now, I kind of take that as a top-off, shall we say. I want something NOW, but have nothing to trade out.

200 points may cost you a lot more than the game new, but that's if you pay cash. The points in the end are to come from a pile of stuff that you had around your house you don't care about any more. Points that are supposed to be worth more than you would have gotten if you had gone to GameStop and gotten their store trade equivelant, which is still not the same as real cash, because they give you X more in store credit, which......is not cash.

Goozex, in the end, gets NO more money if you trade a 1200 point item than if you trade a 100 point item. Big items only net the Post Office more green. So it's not "should I spend 100 bucks on a brand new game", it's "is that full package Parappa and Mario Party 4 I never played anymore worth getting that brand new copy of Wall-E for my family to enjoy?"

For me, I can't say "overpriced", as technically, the value is subjective. But I can say I would rather have the patience to do what Goozex was made for vs. this. Though the Okami is tempting, I'm high in the line, and there's good probability people will buy it in the exchange and then later put in back on here, recouping part of the higher point value. ;)

Ok...so it's pretty much old news now that NO ONE likes the New Exchange...but do we really need a THIRD POLL?!

G-Nitro has the right idea on potential point costs for titles though.  Any more than those values and it's not really a deal at all.

Two more thoughts: A high price acts as a "buffer". Imagine if, say Wolfenstein on there was going for 300 points. The whole site would jump on that, and as points are, well...pointless when exchanging out for cash value, that'd break the bank. It keeps the requests for the exchange to a minimum.

Secondly, it has to be fair to a seller. I am in queue for Okami at 400, can get it new for 800. If I were to, say have the option to get it new for 500, I'd jump on it, as I'm late in the queue. But anyone who actually would sell it would suddenly find themselves without any purchasers ever, as anyone interested would jump on the exchange.

and how is that $20 trade in value at Gamestop for a game you bought for $60 yesterday treating you?

It all really depends on how you personally value points.  I'd much rather spend 2000+ points to get a brand new game here than hop in a car, drive to a retail store and spend $75 for the same game.  With that said, I don't think the prices are as ridiculous as everyone else seems to think.  If they had better selection I probably would have picked something up.

Irrelevant, nobody's complaining about the trade in value of games on goozex. It's the excessive prices of the exchange items.

The point is you are trading games at a GOOD value, and not spending actual cash, very relevant. The price difference is that you dont have to spend cash. Not to mention its a feature you DON'T HAVE TO USE!

I had to spend cash to get the points to trade. Or, I had to spend cash to get a game to trade for the points. If doesn't make a difference to me where I spend my money. Whatever the case I didn't get the points from nowhere.

I know, and I probably won't ever, I just like to complain. Thanks.

I think people wouldnt be as dissapointed in the exchange if it was full of new releases at the same price points.  I am sure some people would jump all over say being able to pre-order CoD: Modern Warfare 2, Assassins Creed 2, & Left 4 Dead 2.  The biggest problem with the price point is the items at these pricepoints are not appealing.  Make the games and movies for the exchange better quality and people wont mind the prices as much.  You will still get the people who think everything should be super cheap but a lot more people would like the exchange and think the pricepoint is okay.

Which is my issue. Most of the games are not that high in demand. Red Faction is close to being readily available, especially with the fall line up. So why would anyone drop 2000 points on it? Braveheart, as good as a movie as it is, is not worth the price it is set at. It will easily be found for $15 or less in a few months on sites like Amazon and what not. Wolfenstein was a dud and will be easily available after MW2 releases.

Like I've stated. You throw up Dollhouse Season 1, Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2, Beatles Rock Band, Microsoft Point or PSN Cards, I'd jump all over it. I don't even think you need pre-order titles, just post up the best releases from the past 2 months.

At Gamestop, (EB Games in Canada) I can get a brand new copy of Brutal Legend next week, if I trade in 3 games.  If I trade in 3 games that would get me 1000 points each, Brutal Legend will cost me 3000 points.  If I can get Brutal Legend here for 2400 points (although, I think 2000 would be better) and then when I finish it, I can put it up for sale for 1000 points,  As opposed to going to Gamestop and getting $30 to $40 for it.

Just an example.

On the other hand, I think the Blu-rays are a bit over priced.

I think the exchange was created for the Goozex members that have a lot of points, and they can now pump those points back into the system by getting new games, and trading them when they are done.  The exchange was not made for the member that has 2000 points in his account.  But, the exchange will help everyone in the long run, by putting more games out there to trade.
