I already have a Nintendo DS. I just need something for my PSP while my wife is playing with my DS.

I think I'll order God of War. A

Are there any other good action games?

What kind of action game are you looking for?  The Monster Hunter games I mentioned earlier are classified as action.  It's got some rpg style elements, but not in the way of character development.  You don't get levels, you don't get stronger.  You do find items and create better equipment, choose your fighting style based on which of the 8 weapon types you choose to use, have quests to fulfill, and have some nice multiplayer options.  It's fun, and although based on sales one might assume it's a fairly large niche, it is a niche type of game.  A lot of folks who like action games may not like it.  People who like action rpgs might not like it at all, either.  I dig it, though.

Crisis Core was a really fun game, too.  Being a prequel to Final Fantasy VII, one correctly assumes it has some rpg elements to it, but it's very much an action game.

If you want the same sort of style that God of War offers, there's some God of War clone style games for psp.  Wolverine comes to mind.  I haven't played it on the psp, but I loved that game on ps3 and 360.

A bunch of classics can be had off of psn in the playstation originals section, for around a $5-10 price point.  Symphony of the Night is still just as excellent a game today as it was at release, more than a decade ago.

There's a good number of fun games.  There may not be as many 'quality games' as you'll find on the DS, but then there's not as much shovelware, either.  Of course that all depends on where you're standing, and what you're looking for, too.  My daughter loves the ds, and just about every game she's ever played for it.  Myself, the only games I even touch for the DS are rpgs, and while I love those on the DS, everything else for the system comes across to me as just so much noise.

If you're into SRPGs, Jeanne D'Arc is my very favorite PSP game ever.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just requested the Monster Hunter games. I have the Final Fantasy games, although I was frustrated with FF1 because it seemed like I had to battle every 5 steps.

I work 2 jobs, and have a wife and 2 kids, so I don't have too much time in one sitting to pick up a game and play.

I was also wondering if there are any good side-scrolling adventure games?

I am definitely getting on the PSN tonight to get Castlevania: Symphony of The Night.

For side scrolling adventure, good call on getting SotN.  It's still in my opinion about the best in the genre.  I've been playing Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero?, as it's on sale this week on the PSN for under $10.  It's really good.  The humor is fun, the levels are pretty well thought out, and the difficulty can be either grueling, or fun with mild annoyance, depending on the difficulty you choose.  That's one I would definitely suggest, although before I bought it, I didn't think I'd have any interest in it at all.

Awesome! I didn't realize that's on the PSN. I will be getting that tonight! I've had that on my wish list for a while on here.

I have a PSP, but I can't find any REALLY GOOD games for it. Any suggestions?  Thanks!

I enjoyed Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow. It was really short though. If you have wi-fi access, then get Killzone: Liberation. It has great multiplayer.

I always found Darkstalkers to be pretty entertaining, as far as fighting games go.  It's pretty reminiscent of the Tekken games, IMO; much better than the majority of the SoulCalibur series.

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops was pretty good, too.

Oh, and if you are at all a fan of the FFVII series, Crisis Core was excellent.

I'm disappointed (but not very surprised) that no one mentioned Dead Head Fred. LOVE that game.

I'm also a huge Monster Hunter advocate. And since I've finally gotten my hands on a USB Wi-Fi adapter I can play it online. Which is awesome.
