How is this game? Is this game a reason to buy a psp?
I suppose that depends on whether or not you've played/fondly remember the original. If you have, then it's certainly a great game. I'm just not sure it's a system seller. It's enhanced, but it's still the original Persona so it seems a bit "dated" when compared to the newer games.
Don't get me wrong, if I didn't already own a PSP, being able to play the original Persona (with full content this time, slightly tweaked visuals, a completely overhauled UI and score) would probably give me that last little nudge. But I already do, so I used it as a reason to buy the game. And I love it.

The only game I've played in the series (and I'm not even sure how it fits in the whole scope of the series) was Nocturne.
A wonderfully strange game.
I'm planning on getting Persona 3 when it comes out--I'm wondering if it would benefit me to play the previous titles for me to help understand it.
I'm half way through the game. First one I've played in the series. It's hard to explain, but it is a relaxed game. I mean, really relaxed. And a tad strange. I mean, I think there have been like 4-5 boss fights that the game pretty much said, "No wait guy, don't get upset. I'll take control and kill that baddie for you." While that's kinda neat, it is also anti-climactic after going through an entire dungeon. Also, for the obsessive compulsive like me, you end up wanting to get new personas all the time and stuff, but I doubt it's too neccessary. Also, after you beat it, it's like there is a second game (second mission really) involving a Queen of some type. Not done that one, so I can't say yet.
Cool stuff: Contacting enemies and negotiating. Persona fusions. Music, fun and catchy... And won't let you sleep due to you humming it.
Not so cool stuff: Without a guide there is a lot of wandering around. The graphics are good, but not anything to write home about. I say good, but I mean good in the sense that everything looks like it should. It's hard to explain, but nothing screams, "OOOooooooo, that's awesome." at least so far. Imagine generic anime.
Both problems have upsides...in that they both make you start to feel like it's "Your" city. So I guess that was the point behind these two things
