Really, they should have stuck with the same model of 1600 points for recent release games and around 1200 for somewhat older releases that are on sale constantly (ie: Ghostbusters). Then boxset movies/TV shows should also be around the same price. New release Blu-Ray movies should be between 800-1000 points.

killmak:
Nope new members signing up and introducing new items into the system does not create more points.  They actually do the opposite since they put more supply into the system without being able to put demand on the system (since they start out with no points).  If nobody ever bought points and no new points were ever introduced into the system supply would eventually outweigh demand greatly and trading would slow down greatly until people started abandoning the site and the site would eventually collapse.
Okay, I get it now. The points have to come from somewhere.

I go to a film festival for a week and this is what happens?

Pretty crazy. I still don't think "new" should be in the vocabulary of Goozex. It does "used" well enough.

I can understand various potential reasons that they might need to have the prices overinflated, in order to keep the exchange a doable program, to where it's not just losing money hand over fist.

However, seriously, if the program isn't feasible at a even remotely reasonable price point, then it isn't a doable program anyways.  It would have been better just not bringing it back.

No disrespect to GoozEx but if the company wants to become something special in this "trading online service" business they have to do the following.

1.       Offer "exchange" items at cost. It means, there will be no profit for GoozEx whatsoever. It would be nice for us, traders, if we could get any recent decent game for 1000 points. What this will do for GoozEx is will attract MORE people to join the site. These people will be eager to EARN points by providing their more "valuable" items for a trade and if there are no trades at the moment, they will be able to dump them in the “exchange” feature.

GoozEx's problem is not their NEW "rewards" program but a FAILURE to attract MORE people to their site. Do you want to make more money? Invest MONEY first.

What you can’t do is to hijack some “sale” items and provide them 3x the cost of the actual trade value. People will decide to go to Amazon, eBay, GameTz and other sources of trading/selling.

Finally but VERY importantly

2. GoozEx must widen their trade items selection. Video Games and Movies are just not enough to provide a full trading experience. It is SO limited. Music Cds, Books, COLLECTIBLES (action figures, whatever). I'm sure this will attract huge number of traders which will become very beneficial for the owners of the site. The site has 5000 trades at the moment. So, it’s 2,500 users aka = $ 2,500.

Imagine if there are 15,000 trades. Yes, no you can take a calculator and see what you’re missing.

Please take this suggestion not as a flame post but just a FREE BUSINESS ADVICE.

Good luck GoozEx, you’re going to need it!

No offense but the business advice you are offering is not very good advice.  For one if there are 5000 trades going on that would mean that they have 5000 trade credits being used.  If all of the credits were bought at $1 per credit then that would equal $5000 not $2500.

Adding books and collectibles to trade on this site does not make any sense at all.  The database needed for something like this would be huge and the trade values of these items would be very hard to monitor.  It would not make any sense for Goozex to get into the used books and action figure market.

The Goozex Exchange items are brand new items.  If you think they are overpriced (which they are) then dont buy them, get in the queue and trade for them.  Having the Goozex Exchange available will not cause people to leave the site because it is an optional part of the site.

yes, I was wrong here. I meant to say 2,500 trades not 5000.

Why do you have to create a value database? Allow users to set their OWN value for their items. Simple as that.

My understanding is that GoozEx main objective is to get $ 1 from a trade not to create points system. Does the site "cares" about worth of item market value or points which are offered for the item? I don't think so. If the value of the item is important to the site, then it has some inconsistencies with many items offered through the web site.

For example, DEAD SPACE for XBOX 360 = 600 points. 600/100= 6x $5=$ 35 for a used game (which brand new $ 30 elsewhere) but at the same time METALOCALYPSE  dvd set is only 200 points which is $ 10 only. It's way to low.

Anyway, I do think that GoozEx and mainly, the points system is brilliant but not fully polished.

You're just a fountain of good ideas! If your objective is to get money from trade tokens, then you aren't going to get any trading activity when everyone is asking for 100 points for their requests and 500 points for their offers.

No, it's not. I said set POINTS VALUE not $ value.

If i have a BOWEN statue and I want to set 2500 points on it, it's MY decision and it's your decision to agree for a trade. GooZex will just get $ 1 per trade rule. That's it.

My main point is MORE items offered MORE traders will come.

Thats what brings me to Goozex there is a set value no haggling. If it anit broke don't fix it. If they changed to a set your own value type system  i know i would not be the only one to walk away from this site.

Goozex is doing fine because they also earn moneyn not just from trade credits, but also from people buying points instead of trading for them. That is all profit to them when they get money for points and the way they do things is as close to perfect your going to get in used game trading.
