I received a xbox 360 game and there was a circular scratch around the outer edge of the disc. I tried to both play the game directly and install it to the HDD, both ended with the xbox giving me a "the disc is scratched error." I then took the game to my local game crazy and paid them to buffer the disc using their machine thingy. The game works now, but I'm wondering what feedback should I leave the seller.

In the future any time you get a game that won't work it's always best to leave negative and let Goozex handle the issue.  It's not your responsiblity to get a game "fixed" it should have been done by the seller before it was shipped to you.

Since you already got it working but it ended up costing you money I would leave Neutral and an explaination in the comment section.

Unfortunately a negative could be disputed since the game works....now.

Hmmm...

Since you went and got it re-surfaced and it works, you can't leave a negative. I'd lean towards a positive +5 (Overall quality not as good as I expected) with a detailed comment about the condition of the disc and what you had to do to get it to work.

this isnt a reason for neutral; originally a negative for unplayable game; if the game still didnt work after resurfacing it also kills a reason for negative because resurfacing can actually damage discs; looks like you're stuck with +5

If you send me something that requires "special treatment" to work, sorry but you're getting a neutral.  Especially if I have to pay extra for it.

Now if it's something that could fixed by "cleaning" the disc then that's a different story but the OP said he had the get the disc resurfaced.

there is no way to know that the disc needed to be resurfaced; there is no option in neutral feedback for this occasion, by black and white definition of the feedback guidelines the user should have left negative

While the seller may not have known it could be resurfaced it's quite easy to know if you're sending a game that won't be read by the system as the OP described.....ya try it before ya send it.  Like I said earlier you should always leave negative if a game doesn't work but he got it fixed at his own expense so by the FAQ definition I would leave Neutral :

Neutral feedback: the buyer has received a game, but it was not in the expected/advertised conditions. Seller's feedback score is decreased (-10).

Now I don't have any open transactions so I can't check to see what the EXACT options are for placing Neutral but the above came right from the FAQ.

Unless he has a receipt saying he paid for a disc resurface, he should leave a +5 positive. Otherwise, the disc works and he received everything he asked for, thus taking neutral out of the equation.

Let this be a lesson - never resurface a Goozex game until any and all feedback/disputes are complete, as it ruins the evidence.

This line of quotes is huge!

Evidence? If I had not taken the game to game crazy and reported negative feedback I would have had to mail the game to goozex to prove that it didn't run?

Leave a negative. You shouldn't have to have the disc buffered, it should work the way the seller sends it.

Cunclusion: I have recieved an unplayable disc  (-20)

this results in a dispute and the seller receiving positive feedback because the disc now plays

The only neutrals are, Requested Full package but received less, Requested D+M but received DO, and Insufficient postage. The "neutral" that your describing is actually the +5 positive feedback and not a neutral at all. Also if he tried to leave neutral Goozex would just overturn it since the game works now and give a positive anyway.

Actually, if the disc still hadn't worked after you had it resurfaced, you'd have been screwed. This is because you'd have had no way to prove the disc didn't work BEFORE you had it resurfaced and they could blame the resurfacing for it not working.

Never, EVER, EVER get a disc resurfaced if it doesn't work.

Leave negative feedback, and send it to goozex for inspection.

That being said, they get a +5 for the disc being playable, but not in the condition you expected and count yourself lucky that it works.
