Yup, Just got it thinking The DLC was on the disc.

Sucks. Not going to try to trick next trader though.

Listing as both regular and GOTY.

Will let whoever requests know the deal before I agree to trade.

Sorry for reviving a old thread.  Last night I decided I wanted Gears 2 complete (in the box with manual).

I am about 3/4 done playing the first one.  Anyway it was a bit hard to figure out that the the extra content was not a second disc (like Gears was).  I probably don't even care about the extra content but, can't see spending more points for the same game (without the DLC).

Gears 2 Special edition (complete) is available for trade now.  I would probably buy it if I knew I was getting the DLC.  But, since I am not sure I am not buying it.  Oddly enough Gears 2 regular went up 50 points since I requested it last night.

I wonder if the confusion is making it so those with the Special Edition (that actually might have the DLC code) being stuck with something people actually want but, are unsure of.  I wonder if Goozex should some how try to address this in the future if this becomes more the norm then the exception (GOTY or special edition) not including the extra content on the original media.

The FAQ states not to expect DLC.  Their original ruling on the Gears 2 GOTY edition contradicted this, which is why they later resorted back to the original rule.

Confusion seems to get created when they make exceptions.  The Watchmen Complete Experience is another "exception" that comes to mind.  It's hard to remain consistent when you're always making exceptions.

edit:

I just received Gears 2 a few weeks ago.  I added it to my list a while ago waiting for it to hit 300 points.  I thought that was going to happen months ago, but it went from 350 to 500 or something.  I can't remember how much it was when I finally activated it, but you just have to keep an eye on the prices and when you see something your comfortable with paying, activate your request.

The description on listing says to refer to the back of the original package for details.  Not really useful to someone who doesn't already have the game.

When Goozex listed it would it have been so hard to put an accurate description of the item?  Why list the same exact game for two different prices.  I would be fine if they listed the games separately and said the were the same content.   My only 'issue' is it should be more clear as to what is being sold.  If someone wants to pay 150 points more for a prettier jacket or whatever that's cool

As you said then you can choose if you want to pay extra for nothing or not.

I read a few other threads on other games like this and there is a lot of confusion.

I think as more and more games come out like this where the special or limited edition content is just down downloadable code this will come up over and over.  I assume Goozex wants it to be a good experience for all so the service can be successful.   If people get annoyed at being screwed over or having legitimate limited editions for sale that people will not buy due to not knowing they are getting the full experience it might drive some people away from a great service.  Which sucks for everyone.

I believe the Product Details page is provided by Rovi and can't really be edited.  However there is this note on the Trading Info Tab:

Trading instructions:
Notice to Traders: The bonus DLC is not required for trading of this game as specified in the "Trading Requirements & Shipping Options" section of the Shipping page of the FAQ.

On a unrelated note, somebody is parked outside my office window blasting "Stayin' Alive"

Well, I read the first few pages of this thread, and found my way here by googling the difference between the two versions. One of the great things I love about goozex is being able to play a game, then being able to upgrade (via points I've been saving) to get all the GOTY editions. Well when I saw GOW2GOTY was a few hundreds of points more, I guess I was stupid for assuming it was a different game, when in fact it is completely identical if buying used. Why the hell then, is the GOTY edition more points then the normal, when I now have two versions of the same fucking game? I'm pretty irate right now because I just paid extra points for nothing. I can see how it could partially be my fault for not realizing the extra 300 points would get me nothing, but at the same time, it's completely unfair two have two versions of the same game worth different points. How does that promote fair trading? I just lost 300 points for nothing. Am I to just lose faith in Goozex, or is there a way to fix this? I fully feel cheated right now.

No, it is completely your fault and is on no one else. Goozex clearly states in the FAQ that DLC codes are expected to be used at the time a trade is conducted. You did not properly check to see what you would be getting in the GOTY.

Stop blaming Goozex

I'd say the following notice on the game's page is pretty fair:

Put it in your offers and send it out.
