G-Nitro -- you raise fair points.  Yes, this is a change in our previous way of handling this type of issue.  This morning we discussed if we want to stay the course or change how we approach these issues.  We figure that if someone truly has a game with the unused download code, then they should be able to trade it.  If not, then don't post the game up for trade.  We'll see how this goes and if it raises big issues at the customer service level.

If they have the game with an unused code, they can already trade it. Why should it be required. And telling someone not to trade a playable game becuase they used a DLC code goes against what this site is for. Trading USED videogames.

I think the DLC code should only be required with Full Package if you're going to take this route, personally.

In 3 years, will it still be required? 5 years?  Its a ridiculous notion to require any DLC code that isn't required to play the game. Once again. USED game trading site

I was more referring to Goozex's decision on this. Just the wrong quote box.

Ammended.  For Gears 2 -- the policy is the same as what we do for games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero.  Full Package must include the unused download code.  Disc only and disc + manual may or may not include it and it.

Sorry for the confusion.

See, people keep saying that the Game of the Year edition shouldn't require the code, but that code is the only thing separating it from the standard original release.  That's it.  That extra content.

If people don't care about the extra content, then I'm sure they won't be requesting the Game of the Year edition.  If people DO want the extra content and they go in requesting a game expecting the extra content, don't you think it's unfair to them to find out that they don't get it after paying the extra points EXPLICITLY for the extra content?

I think this is a good move on Goozex's part to require the DLC code as a full package on a game whose sole purpose for getting a new release is that specific code.

I've never seen any mention of this on the track packs as far as the DLC codes. I also think that's not necessary since the games are fully playable on their own.

Still not happy with it being on full package, but at least there are options for those who have used codes

Would you expect Gamestop to give you an unused code? Of course not, they are a used game store. Just like this is a used game trading site. You want unused codes, go purchase a new copy.

The decision while a strange semi-fix, is still a bad decision. one time use codes should never be required in used games, period.

Agreed. I had no idea this was the Rock Band/Guitar Hero policy. Wasn't the code for RB1 part of the catalyst for the present "DLC is not required" rule?

The track pack codes were the reason Goozex decided DLC was not required.

Now I'm confused.  This may change my goozex strategy, as I was planning on flipping some RB track packs after using the import code, but now may not.  Since they are playable as standalone games, I thought that was all that was needed (even as full package).  And does that mean I can never trade RockBand2 as full package since I used the 20 song download code?  I never knew music games had a special DLC exemption rule for full package.

But back on this subject, people may still want to flip new copies of Gears2 GOTY as it's $37 on amazon.

Edit: slow typer to see the peripheral suggestion response, so don't mind this post if that's the case

G-Nitro:

Oh and I love how the throught process is to make the games untradeable if it is a problem. This isn't steam or an MMO.  Why does the G-Team always jump to conclusions without thinking it out. Here is the best solution for this issue, so you don't screw over people ever trading this game again, which is playable without the code.

Instead of requiring the single use code to be unused (which is a freaking ridiculous on a used game site), you should specify in the listing of the game that all the bonus content is accessed through a DLC code and that users should not expect to receive an unused code.

so your saying the system should be a seller can sell a game as a different (higher cost) game and be allowed to sell the unused code on this website?  is fallout 3 GOTY going to be the same way as this

Possibly. But there's a separate listing for game only--which is not the case here.

Peripherals is a whole 'nother ball of wax. It bugs me that if you request socom w/ headset as disc+manual, you aren't entitled to receive the headset (even though there's a separate listing for the game without the headset.
