Very nice.  Thanks for checking out this situation.  I think it's a very reasonable resolution.

This is a tricky issue.  We have posted under "Trading info" that you must provide the unused download code under all three shipping conditions (Full Package, Disc + Manual, Disc Only).  If it comes down to a dispute with the seller claiming an unused code was sent and the buyer claiming otherwise, we will have the game shipped to Goozex and we will contact Microsoft and/or the publisher.  If this issue becomes a serious constraint on trading activity and our customer service resources then our last resort will be to disable these types of games from trading.

wasn't expecting that outcome

Interesting. Is it then permissible to trade the GOTY version without the code as a "standard" version?

This goes against all the previous decisions of Goozex on DLC codes. The DLC codes ARE not required to play the actual Gears 2 game. It only gives you all the map packs and deleted content.

You guys are treading on thin ice with making seperate decisions on various games. You have stated that any DLC that isn't required to play a game is not required. Now you are saying it is for this title?

*EDIT* This is a used videogame site and if you bought this at Gamestop you wouldn't get, nor should you expect an unused code.

If I requested the original Gears 2 and got the GotY, I would leave a negative for wrong game received as it wasn't what I requested. UPCs are different too.

My guess is that'd be appropriate.

Oh and I love how the throught process is to make the games untradeable if it is a problem. This isn't steam or an MMO.  Why does the G-Team always jump to conclusions without thinking it out. Here is the best solution for this issue, so you don't screw over people ever trading this game again, which is playable without the code.

Instead of requiring the single use code to be unused (which is a freaking ridiculous on a used game site), you should specify in the listing of the game that all the bonus content is accessed through a DLC code and that users should not expect to receive an unused code.

G-Nitro -- you raise fair points.  Yes, this is a change in our previous way of handling this type of issue.  This morning we discussed if we want to stay the course or change how we approach these issues.  We figure that if someone truly has a game with the unused download code, then they should be able to trade it.  If not, then don't post the game up for trade.  We'll see how this goes and if it raises big issues at the customer service level.

I agree; consistency is the best approach here, in my opinion.

If they have the game with an unused code, they can already trade it. Why should it be required. And telling someone not to trade a playable game becuase they used a DLC code goes against what this site is for. Trading USED videogames.

ooooo ooooo let me bring the baby dinosaur eater out and suggest that they make a fourth option for games and Blu-Ray movies Full package + DLC code...   yeah... anyone..  no...  nom nom nom

aw dang there goes another baby dinosaur Big Smile

But seriously this could also make a TON of Blu-Rays movies unreadable without the digital download code if this new policy goes into action site wide.

I think the DLC code should only be required with Full Package if you're going to take this route, personally.

In 3 years, will it still be required? 5 years?  Its a ridiculous notion to require any DLC code that isn't required to play the game. Once again. USED game trading site
