Make Gears of War 2: Game of the Year Edition untradable?

Someone who hasn't played the game at all might still want it and wouldn't care about the download code.

I agree with this. This will probably start happening a lot more frequently as a way to prevent used game sales, so get used to it everyone.

Agree - a note on the game listing would prevent alot of confusion.  CoD4 and LittleBigPlanet GotY editions are the exact same way - including 1-time use codes to give you access to added content.

Last I heard, Fallout 3: GotY (much like Oblivion: GotY) should have all the DLC content included on the disc, which makes me a happy Goozer.

I'm hoping that they keep to their standard.

WOw, it's like they are finding new ways to hose people.   I am officially boycotting PAID $$ DLC that is multiplayer only.  And I am intentionally buying as much single player DLC as I can to support my position.

I already am. Why pay for multiplayer DLC, its the dumbest thing because at one point no one will be on the server (let it be months or a year).

I usually have a problem with DLC from the get-go. Charging for new songs in games like RB and GH is one thing but to get an extra level or an extra set of cars it's just FUBAR. Besides songs the only DLC I have ever gotten was "Bring Down the Sky" for "Mass Effect" and a little hot rod car for Motorstorm which I regret buying even if to was 99cents.

This is why I the hair behind my neck raises when some publisher complains about piracy and used game sales. Up yours!!! You are making so much cash of DLC now that you cover your "losses" twice over and more...

Just to let you know, LBP GOTY doesn't have a code for the DLC.  Its all on the disc and is installed when you run the game.   Only one time code that comes with LBP GOTY is the modnation racer beta thingy.

Then they would be better off paying less points for the standard version of the game instead of paying more for an identical product.

This is about protecting users who might not know better.  They might only see "19 extra maps and a bonus character" and think they're getting it with the game when there's probably a 99% chance that the code has already been used and they paid all those extra points for nothing.

since the code unlocks game content couldnt you mark it as received wrong product (-20) seeing its not the same game without a useable code?

One-time use codes are not required for Full Package.

The game in this case is fully playable, you just don't get the DLC. It's a sucky situation but one that is avoidable with a little research (some people will want the GOTY even without the DLC).

so how else do you get the code for all fronts collection ?  were keys only sold with the GOTY edition ?

You can buy the code vouchers in a store or download the content off of the marketplace.

I was actually wondering about this situation as well. I did not even know about the goty edition having the maps as a DLC code until I read reviews on Amazon. Considering the amount of people who did not know about it until they saw this thread, I would bet there are a lot of others who could get an unpleasant surprise. Unless the seller is actually required to send an unused code, I don't see why this should be tradeable if it is exactly the same game as the original. I personally would not consider the goty edition full package without the DLC code regardless of whether or not Goozex does not require it.

It all comes down to doing your own research. The GotY edition is a new UPC. If I wanted the original copy, I would not want the crapp GotY version of the case because people were too stupid to realize it was a one use code and cried until Goozex removed that listing. Just like a greatest hits with a seperate UPC, this needs to STAY seperate.

Ignorance is no excuse to have Goozex make a game untradeable

This is a tricky issue.  We have posted under "Trading info" that you must provide the unused download code under all three shipping conditions (Full Package, Disc + Manual, Disc Only).  If it comes down to a dispute with the seller claiming an unused code was sent and the buyer claiming otherwise, we will have the game shipped to Goozex and we will contact Microsoft and/or the publisher.  If this issue becomes a serious constraint on trading activity and our customer service resources then our last resort will be to disable these types of games from trading.
