Hello.

I have been a member for awhile, but i have never actually used this site for anything other then browsing.

My question is as follows:

Before i request a game, how do I know how much shipping will be for the game, on top of the number of points required to get the game?

Here is my example:

I have never offered a game, and i don't currently have any games offered.

I do however have a couple of trade tokens, and 100 points.

The game I am interested in is 250 points.

I will buy 200 more points for $10, so now i have enough points for the game i want.

However how do i know how much it will cost to have that game shipped to my home?

Where/when does it list the shipping cost?

I want to get a feel for how much this game will cost me in shipping before i put a request.

Thanks for any help on this.

(PS. i did read the FAQ, i see no info there on how shipping works if your the person receiving a game)

you don't pay for shipping other than the 1 trade token.  The seller pays all shipping costs.

You don't pay anything to have it shipped to you.  The trade tokens cover this for you.  All you have to do is have the required point amount and 1 trade token to recieve a game.

Having a game shipped to you does not cost you any money for shipping.  The seller of a game is always responsible for shipping costs.  Point costs are located on the games listing.

wow, that was a quick bunch of replies. Surprise

Thanks for the answers guys, thats great that i don't have to add anything extra for shipping. Big Smile

Should i worry that since i am in Canada (Ontario), that i might not be able to get someone willing to ship the game i am interested in? Given it might cost the shipper a little bit more to ship?

Also anyone have any idea on whether a simple standard DVD case would get stuck with brokerage fees?

(i don't mind paying the taxes,, but I have paid brokerage fees before on items i ordered from ebay where the brokerage fee was 3x the cost of the item itself)

If you get matched, it means they're willing to ship to Canadians, so you should be fine there.

It's cheaper for me to ship to Canada than inside the US.  Of course that is without delivery confirmation though.  But even so, its about a dollar cheaper for me to send north than domestic.

cool.

So since you have cross border shipped, would you know if any of the people you shipped to got stuck with brokerage fees?

This only happens if they screw up the customs form. I have seen only a couple of complaints about it on the forums about this in 2 years. Sadly, it is the buyers responsibility to pay (or reject the package) if this happens.

I'm sure if someone got stuck with a fee on any of the games I sent I would have got some really bad or neutral feedback for that.  Anything here is the seller's responsibility to pay for shipping wise on the initial transaction.  But if a package shows up and demands a fee, you can send it back if you don't want to pay the fee.  That would be the seller's fault according to rules correct?

The rule is, anything over CDN$20 is taxable (no duty on video games).  If Canada post has to collect tax, they add $5 brokerage fee.  In practice, many items with a much higher value, sent by post office, get passed along without them assessed the tax.  Its unlikely a gmae would end up being taxed even if marked higher.   The odds would be higher if it was a larger package, like a guitar controller.or a number of games together.

If the seller used a courier it would be a guarantee to pay tax +outrageously high brokerage fees if it was declared over $20.  I doubt anyone on goozex is going to use a courier to Canada..

Lots of Canadian traders here so no worries. I always ship my items as a "gift" when they head to the US, so no BS.
