Bruce Wayne died actually. I think nightwing took over the mantle of Batman.

That means less than nothing.  We don't really need to start a list of all the superheroes who have 'died' only to reappear during the next summer's big cross over event, do we?

Nightwing (Dick Grayson) really did take up the cowl over every series. It is very different from other Superhero deaths, as the actual hero is still there - just a new person behind the mask. This change is/will be much more permanant. Wayne probably won't come back for a while.

You're usually totally correct, but in this case the Superhero isn't dead and the character is still going strong.
It has actually ended up pretty good. The new Batman & Robin by Morrison is the best Batman has been in years.

I know of the Battle for the Cowl storyline, but I haven't followed it.  That someone else is filling in as Batman, though, even more so justifies my point, I think.  When Green Arrow died, and his son became Green Arrow, only to have Kevin Smith write the original Green Arrow back.  The whole death and return of Superman.  And even the Knightfall storyline, when Bruce didn't die, but he was supposed to be paralyzed for life, and Azrael became Batman for a year, only to have Bruce miraculously heal.

Bruce will be back, eventually, once they wrap up the whole black lantern corp thing.  The only question is whether Dick will give back the mantle graciously, or if Bruce will have to take it back.

Besides, Batman is the DC symbol for the power of human will and perseverance.  He can't die, for good, as it goes against the DC philosophy.

Who is your favorite comic hero. My fav is Green Lantern. Just post your favorite hero and a picture of that super hero.

Peace!

My favorite comic hero is certainly not a DC character. :) I am a bonafide Marvel fanboy, and I still think most of the movies totally suck. Anyway, my favorite mainstream one is either Robinson's Jack Knight-Starman, with Ostrander's Jim Corrigan-Spectre being a close second, although I'm not sure he's a hero. Going to vertigo, I'd say probably Seagle/Wagner's Wesley Dodds-Sandman. Wait, does Spider Jerusalem count? :) Also, I love all the Flash/Green Lantern ones. There's been at least 3 distinct Flashs, maybe more, and what, about a billion Green Lantern, with at least 4 main ones (Alan Scott, Hal Jorden, John Stewart, Guy Gardner).

Batman is definitely my favorite.  Green Lantern Kyle Rayner & Lobo would be next in line.

This thread prompted me to go to Wikipedia and read up on what's been going on with Batman, Robin, Nightwing, and the gang.

It's been so long since I last read a comic that it all came as a surprise to me. And convinced me there is no way I can possibly afford to keep up with it all.

I don't read much DC to really have a favorite character, but out of what I've read...

DC Favorite Character - Joker
DC Favorite Hero - Batman
Nobody else even comes close to those two in my opinion. I've liked other characters, but like I said I don't read much DC. I liked Black Adam's arc in 52, so I guess him too.

Vertigo is an imprint that I just absolutely love, so some favorite characters from there:

Saint of Killers from Preacher
Yorick from Y the Last Man

Still have a ton of Vertigo I'd like to read. Jack Knight is also an excellent character.

Now if we're talking about Marvel, I could be here all day.
