my gamestop near me sucks i dont even get my games there i drive 5 more mins out of my way to go to the other one near me because they are 10 times better.
I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every moment of it.
i drive all the way across town if i want to have a good experience at a GS, but if i want to get ripped off and raped i will go to the one near me, unfortunately for them that is never.
Haven't been inside a Gamestop in years....prices are terrible.

I dont know why i still go to gamestop when i have amazon, but idk. One gamestop near me is really helpful, not really biased to any console, and i like going there. The rest of them (be it 4 or 5 of them) suck.
Walked in one the other day to see if i can trade in my logitech guitar for some needed money. They dont accept em anymore, even though this is the 200 dollar version. Not only that but on my account i only have Rock Band stuff, and I always get the "wanna reserve guitar hero?" This time i was fed up with it and said "no i hate guitar hero, only rock band" and he got kinda mad lol. Then replies "Well how bout the beatles rock band?" and i said "Beatles? Thats ten times worse" and he got even more mad and kinda mumbled something and started to walk away.
I dont mind the simple "want to reserve any games?" or them showing you the list of games on the counter, but these guys will literlly sit there "wanna reserve halo?" when im buying a PS3 game...Say no then "how about uncharted" already got it at amazon... and they will keep going till you literlly say "no just wanna buy my game and leave"
Like i said some are not bad. Back when i got infamous at another gamestop the guy ran out of Infamous demo cards, offered to call up another store and have em hold it for me and everything. We talked about how the demo was really neat and he was a nice guy. He merely asked "did you want to reserve anything else" and a simple no was all i had to say.
There is a Play N Trade at one of the malls near me now, but it is a lot farther away and the prices aren't any better. Sometimes their employees rub me the wrong way, too.

Gamestop gamecrazy anywhere there is games I seem to get along just fine. Just break the ice. One time at Gamestop I talked the guy into giving me some preorder left overs that were not claimed. Find a game you have in common and you are half way there. If I had to deal with the years of "do you have a Wii" I would come off rude too.
I don't know why people say gamestops prices are terrible. Its not much different than any other store in terms of new games, and you can find some deals there on used ones if you play the cards right. If you want better deals than that, most of the time you have to go online, pay shipping, etc.
In terms of rude people though, I live less than 2 minutes from the gamestop in my city, so I frequent there a lot. There is 1 guy there that I end up talking to a lot, and I deal with him so much that he doesn't even ask to see my EDGE card anymore, gives me the discount (I guess he knows my number since he has to enter it due to the barcode on the sticker wore off and he has to type in my info), and we talk about new releases and such. The rest of the staff? Dumb as a box of rocks. There is one very butch looking woman there that doesn't know how to ring stuff up, messes up orders, etc. The manager is a total cocky ass that it seems like its beneath him to help you, and and one younger guy that has to ask the manager questions about everything you ask him. But its a better store than the 4 stores one city over.
Am I the only person who doesn't want to talk about games when I go to the store? I have the entire internet full of people who are wrong about everything for that! If I ever do drag myself up the store it's in, grab the game, head to the counter, do the magic stop-upselling-me ritual (flash edge card, yes I'm subscribed, already have things preordered), pay, leave, grab a six pack on the way back so I can drink to forget the fact that I bought pangya.
I only talk to people about games that I know actually know what the hell they are talking about. Most gamestop employees I've come across either A) are informative about the products, but have an attitude about it and want to push it on you B) Dont know a thing about gaming, just a temp job for them to pay for whatever or C) know gaming, and very nice people. I really only converse with type C. Type A I just block out and let them ramble on about how they beat whatever game or why I should preorder Halo 100 blah blah. Type B I try to avoid like the plague if I know they are like that. But if you can find a type C, talk some shop, get on the good side, they might help you out later. I've got a few hook ups :D
I've been in a quite a few Ebgames in my province. Only one a decent service...which happens also to be the only one that was actually ventilated and that didn't smell bad....

I actually enjoy it when I find a GS where the employee can actually talk with me on games. I hate accidentally stumping the guy behind the counter during friendly banter. Disappointing to say the least.
With Goozex and Ebay though, I haven't seen the need to go into a GS yet. If I can wait, Goozex it is. If I must have it, it can generally be found on Ebay for $5-$10 cheaper than retail with free shipping come release day, in an actually new, sealed, case.

We have two in TBay...a block apart. I've had positive experiences at both and unfortunately negative experiences at both.
Like any retailer they seem to staff people at both ends of the knowledge and social skill spectrums. Some employees are well educated on games, some aren't. Some are extremely courteous, some are completely socially inept.

Throw in "and some employees just never show up" and you have the Goozex moderator staff.
I will give gamestop one thing, at least in my city. They do a great midnight release. Usually catered by a local pizza place, they give out free shirts, drinks, usually show a movie or something themed to the game coming out. Always a good turn out too. Had quite a few people show up for the costume contest for batman arkham asylum there. The other gamestops 15 minutes away midnight releases are horrible. They rope off 1/4 of the store where you have to stand cramped with people, don't allow you to check out game boxes (they say they can't sell you anything that is not preorder release game for that night) and overall a horrible time. I got stuck with those stores for GH metallica, RE5, and SF4 cause they were the only places doing midnights for them.
