Many anime companies now are skipping English dubs and just putting out subtitle only now to cut costs and put out more for less. I'm all for it as 99% of dubs are freaking worthless

While I understand why they do it, my eyes disagree as to the worthlessness of English dubs. I'd need at least a 70" TV to actually read the subtitles. Moving the couch, tv or bed isn't an available option. Laser eye surgery is out too Wink

actually most of the anime legend discs do have the dubs (Im not sure about all of them though) - I just sent out Golden Boy and that one definitely had the dub although it was so bad I had to turn it off and watch the subs. Most discs are just better off watching them with the subs anyways. I will say that there are some exceptions though like Elfen Lied and Death Note are excellent.

My sentiments exactly. Though my eyesight is probably better than yours, all I have is a 13" screen to watch it on. Sad

Actually, I did figure that out right after posting it, but realized it would be too much of a hassle to go back and ninja edit it, besides it was funny also.

As for the ones I have that are Anime Legend series, they all have the dubs on them (though granted I think I only have 2 of them).

I guess I'm one of the few that doesn't mind the dubs, in fact, prefer it. I just don't want to have to read my movies/shows. Most of the time, I'm on Goozex or GameTZ.com at the same time as watching TV, so definitely can't be reading my shows.

Maybe I'm lucky that I'm watching shows with good english translation (as I'm watching many of the more popular shows on Adult Swim and Funimation Anime On Demand or Anime movies).

There have been many occassions where I'll actually have the english dub and subtitles on at the same time (due to noise level in my house), and while there are differences, they're pretty close; and I don't recall any translations that were grossly different.

Like I said, maybe I'm lucky with the dubs, or maybe it's that I don't like to read TV (although I do keep closed captioning on all my TV watching, as my son can be very loud, so I am getting more used to reading TV)

They weren't listed for the SAC 2nd Gig set on Amazon.ca, luckily I have a GC so I don't mind getting the other version.

English overdub can be awful, but w/ the right actors it can also be pretty good. I usually go w/ subtitles

I prefer the subs to dubs most of the time. There are exceptions, but most of them really are horrible. I'd much rather "read" my anime than sit through hours of horribly casted voices. Broken Heart

I just sent mine into Goozex. And I hear Goozex will actually change the feedback to a lesser negative, so they don't lose traders. I personally think that is BS and on the same lines as feedback abuse by a trader. There is no point in having a feedback option if Goozex won't uphold it. I hope they do stick it to the guy I'm dealing with as he did nothing but insult me the entire time and never once accepted responsibility.

*EDIT* Well, I am pleasantly surprised. Goozex did deem it was indeed a bootleg for various reasons and the negative was upheld to the full -250 and it is the seller's responsibility. I'm pretty sure the seller's attitude during the whole dispute helped my case. I normally would hate to see a trader get dinged like that, but with no remorse on what was sent and insulting me like he did, I am glad the G-Team left the feedback intact.
