Here's what I received back when the guy opened a dispute on me.

This played fine on my DVD player, Xbox, Xbox360, and PS2. You have no right to complain because this played perfectly on every system that it could be tested on. The quality is great, I have watched it multiple times. I had no knowledge of this not being an official version of the DVD. How can I know which version you had wanted? I wasn't even aware there was more than one. Maybe you should have specified what version of the DVD you wanted. This is very poor conduct. Maybe using computers isn't the thing for you if you are too ignorant to realize that not everyone is aware of some obscure version of something you want.

I was hoping to work out maybe a cancellation so he wouldn't get nailed with a -250 points. But the guy calls me ignorant and shows zero remorse in sending out a bootleg. It doesn't have the same cover that is shown on the Goozex listing, nor does the UPC code match anything in their database, yet I'm supposed to specify the version I want. lol  This -250 better stand. Users like this need to learn.

The only bootleg dvd sets I own are the complete series of X-Men and Spider-Man (The 90's cartoons, not the new ones)

I only purchased them because back then Disney owned the rights and would not print them for DVDs.

X-men had long been the most requested TV show for a dvd release.  They are finally doing it now, but man talk about missing the boat.

Wow the seller seems completely clueless.  Hopefully Goozex lets the -250 stand and teach this user a hard lesson.

Oh I'll break that complaint ban if they change this feedback. It is so blatantly bootleg, to change the feedback would be taking away my power as a buyer to leave appropriate feedback.

From what some other users have said Goozex seems to be willing to change neutrals to +5 for no reason when people complain so I would not be overly suprised if they changed the feedback to a normal negative.  After all for most users a -250 would put them so far into the negative that there would be no reason for them to use Goozex anymore and I doubt Goozex wants to lose users even the crappy ones.

Don't buy it there. you can get it here for $39.99. http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/catalogmgr/Ek4eU4x7msywsO9vR5/browse/item/83857/4/0/0

Rightstuf is a legit seller too!

Thanks G-Nitro, I've actually been scouring Ebay for some sets for a while and these guys prices are great.  Knowing that I'm getting the legit copies is just icing.

Well, then they should lower the penalty to -50 or -100 instead of having it so high.

I'm fine w/ -250. Goozex can afford to lose sketchy bootleg traders. They don't provide to the health of the community and are more of a headache than they are worth. An honest user who sent a bootleg unknowingly will most likely be able to work out something w/ the buyer to avoid the feedback. User who respond as they did in g-nitros case ooze of guilt.

The rare cases that slip between the crack where a well-intentioned user sends a bootleg unknowingly and still is forced to keep the feedback is extremely rare. The rarity of this circumstance hardly warrants changing the penalty for such a violation.

I have a family member (by marriage) who owns bootleg X-Men DVDs. I've considered reporting him to the appropriate authorities.

I do agree with you on that. It was obvious that the item I was sent didn't even match the image of the cover art that Goozex shows. I really hope that Goozex holds firm on the feedback if he escalates it. The guy flat out puts me at fault for the feedback and accepts ZERO responsibility.

Yeah ban the bootleg dumpers, and when they complain... report them to the FED!

Yeah, that's pretty inexcusable. If I had accidentally sent you a bootleg, I would be apologizing profusely, not acting like an arrogant tool.

This

Although by now I've figured out how to spot obvious bootlegs and don't send them out if I encounter them (though I probably wouldn't send them out even if they were legit).

Greggo:

Having just -250'ed a bootleg anime DVD set I received, I thought it'd be a good idea to inform everyone considering trading anime DVDs of a couple of things:

- A lot of anime dvds you can pick up new from mom and pop video game and toy stores are, in fact, bootleg.  Make sure to compare the UPC on the box to the one in the Muse database before putting it up for offer on Goozex.

- Ditto eBay and Amazon Marketplace.  Bootleg anime runs rampant here.

- The following companies are known bootleggers: "Animation Video," "Anime Cartoon/Manga International" (not to be confused with Manga Entertainment), "Fx" and "Anime Studio."  If the DVD set you have has any of these company logos on the spine or where the actual company logo (Viz, Funimation, etc) should be, IT IS A BOOTLEG.

Here is a FAQ on bootleg anime: http://www.jazzmess.com/merch/bootlegfaq.html

Thanks, and be careful, fellow Goozexers!

So....did you still keep it or throw it in the trash? Wink
