Most of you guys say Halo 3 is a terrible game, what you don't realize is the custom games mode. Problem is, all the good maps/gametypes are hard to come by, if you join any random person's party it's usually an uninterlocked not even geomerged piece of c.r.a.p... I'll give you a few examples of a good forge maps...

As you can see halo is more then just a shooter it is an insanely fun minigame type game. No other game can have this much customizeabilty of just pure fun. Execpt for LBP but that isn't competitive.... I remember quite a few maps, I remember whack a mole where the zombies have to hit the "moles" (they are humans) with the gravity hammer as the heads of the humans stick out of the ground...
I don't think anyone would honestly say Halo 3 is a terrible game. It's more an average game that benefits from a rabid fanbase and developer support.

That's really the deal, people who love halo, really really love it and play it all the time. I loved Halo 1, but Halo 2 killed the series for me in terms of single player campaign.

I own Halo 2 on the PC, I used my 360 controller (I suck with a mouse/keyboard.) I have no problem killing enemies in that game. I'm a beast with a Battlerifle. I think the reason why most people say mous eand keyboard is supreme is because that is what they grew up with... As for me, I grew up with a controller. Neither is supreme as evident that I can beat people with a mouse and key baord with a controller, it only matters how good you are with what you use.
BTW, before youy argue that it takes to long to turn, try adjusting your sensitivity...
I am actually more excited for ODST then I was for 3. I enjoy Halo 3 but the original was better.

The thing that kept me from liking Halo was how long it took to kill bad guys. I'm shooting the guy for 2 minutes and he ain't dying. That's BS. Multiplayer was okay, at least people died when you shot 'em.

I am waaaay beyond bored of Halo. Sold 360 and went ps3 when that happened about a year after halo 3 launch.
Halo is a foundation, it just needs a reboot. The formula doesn't hold up nowadays. There needs to be progression, and lots of it. Perks, colors, whatever, something. Perhaps squad based like team fortress. Halo needs a reboot.
I'll say right now, none of my friends are excited about halo odst. I might skip it altogether.
They have an amazing foundation though, crazy super spartan guy, customizable levels and game types, vehicles, pretty well balanced weapons, varied gameplay, great party and all that, just update the formula bungie. I hope this "reach" game coming is that reboot. I'll go pick up an elite if it is.

It sounds like you've never played starcraft or warcraft 3 online...if you did you'd know they are very impressive as far as customization within/of gameplay goes. I pretty much only played custom maps on those 2 games and loved every minute of it. The competitive arena is there yeah, but I'm too lazy for that. Halo 3 is pretty good for a console fps game though.

I think I just assumed the OP meant on a console. Obviously if you're going to compare Halo to PC games as far as customization options, just about any PC FPS from id / Valve is going to blow it out of the water.
Halo 3 isnt a terrible game. Bungie has done a great job supporting it but its biggest flaw is matchmaking. Its ridiculous how many times ive ended up playing on the same map 4+ times in a row. Starting games with uneven teams and not being able to join games in progress is a huge flaw as well.
That, or Keyboard/Mouse players are too arrogant to figure out how to use a dual-stick controller.
