...is pretty useless.  Seems all war films are tucked into Action/Thriller, which is a pain.  Any good war film suggestions?

I should be matched up for Platoon shortly, I have the BluRay of Band of Brothers supposedly heading my way (been 10 days now Sad ), just got BD We Were Soldiers, considering getting Saving Private Ryan, matched up for (hoping it doesn't time out) Black Hawk Down....and I think that's it.  Oh, I own the Patriot too...going back a ways in the war timeline there.

Any other must see war film suggestions?  I don't really care what conflict is involved.

lol I see what you did there...

Yes!  I should probably get FMJ...the last time I saw that movie was in Basic Training.  A somewhat odd choice of film I'd say.

I forgot to mention I own the 6 DVD collectors set of Rambo.  I <3 Rambo.

I don't think I've even see TBotRK or Das Boot though.  Good films I presume?

One of my favorite movies actually.  I've been meaning to watch it again, but they took it off of Instant Watch I think.  Maybe it's time to own it.

EDIT: Seems the only person offering it has it in 'O-Ring Packaging'.  I'm not sure what to make of that.

I will reiterate Full Metal Jacket, its my favorite war movie.

One that you (and most people) have probably never heard of is a little ditty called The Siege of Firebase Floria. It is one of the few "big battle" Vietnam movies. I'm not sure if its on DVD or not, I saw it in 35mm a few weeks ago but I'm pretty sure its widely available.
R. Lee Ermy stars and he has some awesomely classic lines.

Finally, im not the only huge war film person lol. I wish the category actually worked, instead of browsing all the others...

BTW You said saving private ryan...In blu-ray? Ive been looking for it and cant find it (in stores) and its not even listed here. Or were you saying you have it on DVD?

I looked for Firebase Gloria (looked under Floria as you originally wrote...lol the results were limited).  Seems it is only on VHS.  I think I still have a VCR around here somewhere, but I'd be nice to find a surprise DVD release out there.  The brief overview of it sounded interesting.

As far as Saving Private Ryan, I don't own that one yet, but I'm trying to build as much of my war collection in BluRay as possible, but IDK if SPR comes in that form yet.

I'm also disappointed that the Rambo series has a bluray edition (since I just recently bought the DVD collector's version)...something I'll have to get eventually, and I had to settle for Platoon in DVD form as well.

SPR has Blu-ray but it was limited due to them stripping the audio from it. It was offered as part of a World War 2 collection on Blu-ray and that was the only way you could get it, it was documentaries and then the movie. It had the non-stripped audio and everything, but i forgot what its called and cant find it now.

Also another good war movie is Tears of the Sun, just watched it again and its pretty good. My favorites being Black Hawk Down, We Were Soldiers, and SPR, have two of the three on blu-ray.

Flags of our fathers and letters from iwo jima. two great movies that compliment each other like no other movies can.

Haven't seen those yet either, but I remember hearing one was much better than the other?

What is the basis of those 2 films?

Yeah I thought it might only be on VHS. Its great for being such a small unknown. And yes, I meant Gloria, lol

I agree with this two, they're two great films. Looks at the battle of Iwo Jima from both sides - Flags is about the Americans (specifically the famous raising of the flag picture), and Letters follows a commanding officer for the Japanese during the same battle. I've never heard one being "much" better than the other as they're both great, but I would venture to guess they were thinking Letters > Flags.
