Having a lot of movies that are disc only, I just want to see how the community feels about disc only movies to see if I have a shot at trading most of them sooooo this...

Would you Request Movies as Disc Only.

  • Yes, I am fine getting just the movie (21.9%)
  • No, I would never request a movie without the case (65.8%)
  • If it was availiable and I wanted the movie, I would forfeit full package to receive my movie sooner (12.3%)
  • Total Votes: 73

After paying $1 and then about $3-4 for shippipng, it's actually cheaper for me to "rent" movies here than it would be if i went to a video store. I would request disc only for a movie that  I knew I would only want to watch once.

If it was a movie I kept on planning, I would want full package

Personally, no. Then again I don't remove any of my dvds from their case or purchase digital download videos. I like having the complete, hard copy package.

How about disc plus manual? Big Smile  I actually had to list one of my Pirates of the Caribbean movies as disc+manual, because while I had the original case with the inserts and the slipcover, my kids accidentally ripped off the plastic over the artwork on the case thinking it was the packaging plastic. Tongue Tied  It wasn't a big deal since I had the slipcover over it anyway...until I listed it on here haha.

edit: Oh and regarding the actual topic, I thought about using this as a rental supplement, but it seems like it would be too hard to trade movies back out as disc only, so it probably wouldn't be worth it.  Plus I could pay $1 for a redbox movie, or $1 trade token to get it from here....  And I'd never give up Netflix, it's worth $9.50/month for the instant watch alone, imo.

Since I'm mostly requesting box sets, for the most part I'd say no.

Movies are something even less seperated from their respective cases than games are, so if the case is missing, I'm left to wonder on the condition of the disc.

Then there's the fact that I now have no where to put this disc on my shelf...

Lastly, return trade outs would be expected to go slower, so that's a turn off.

I'm willing to wait for FP.

We moved a while back, and ditched the cases for all of our "keeper" DVDs (a few special editions and box sets excluded).  They took up a ton of space, and now our DVDs are organized and stored in a much smaller space.

If I were to request movies from Goozex (haven't so far) then I would be 100% ok with requesting disc only.

That is my main reason for an answer of "no."

I like my collection, it is even alphabetized (which is lame I know), but having a disc only would be too irritating when it seems there is a very healthy supply of FP.

I would have to say NO on this one,i keep my stuff neat and disk only would throw all of that off.

LOL... Do you mean OCD?  I know it's a simple mistake...  but if he had ADD then he'd probably start sorting, get distracted, wander off, and end up juggling cats.

I used to sort out my DVDs too.  Once you've got more than 100 it's a royal pain to find a particular DVD to watch or loan to friends when you don't have some sort of "system".  Alphabetical is just one of the the easiest systems to implement and explain to others.

Now that our movies are disc-only and stored in full-sized binders, storage is even easier.  We number the binders and pages with stickers, and keep a spreadsheet that lists our DVDs (in alphabetical order) and which binder/page it's stored in.  Adding new movies is easy -- just drop it in the next slot and update your spreadsheet.  Print out a copy every once in a while to store inside the binder, and it makes everything easy while taking up a fraction of the space.  The hardest part is stickering the binder pages initially.

Is it really that unusual to alphabetize your DVD's? If you have a fairly large collection, it makes finding them much easier. I do the same thing for my video games.

EDIT: I was beaten by a few minutes.

And its not that unusual, but I don't personally know anyone that does it. Then again, I have a much larger collection than most everyone I know anyway.
