My God of War disc has some sticker residue on the label side. I'm afraid to use Goo Gone as it may damage the label graphics. Has anyone successfully removed residue from the disc label? I did find other posts on removing sticker residue but none seemed to address this particular area. Thanks!

i had the same problem and i took my game and put it under hot water and smothered the label side with palmolive dishwashing soap and let it sit for like 5 min i then took a dobie scratch resistant sponge and cleaned it off and it came off perfectly with no stickiness and no scratches and plays fine

What I know works really well is Stridex facecleansing pads...

I've also used nail polish remover...

I just use an alcohol swab like the ones you can buy for first-aid kits. They usually get rid of the gunk fairly easily.

A belated thanks to the responders. I've had mixed success with getting stickers/residue off of the label side of discs. Here are the 3 methods I tried and their outcome:

1. Had a God of War disk with various stickers and sticker residue. Soaked it in cold water with detergent for 10 minutes. Rubbed away what I could with a dish rag and then used Goo Gone to get the difficult stuff. Everything came off and the game works great.

2. Bought a copy of Shadow Hearts: Covenant at a local used game store and when I got it home I discovered it had a security ring sticker around the inside center of the disc. I soaked it in WARM water this time (w/detergent) and peeled off the sticker (I may have peeled of the sticker before soaking, I don't recall). There was some residue left behind after peeling it off, including some VOID markings (a security feature). I began to rub it with a dish rag (I don't recall if I was using Goo Gone also or just the warm water/detergent), but the disc artwork came right off with the sticker residue, ruining the disk. $15 down the drain.

3. Got a copy of Infamous with another security ring sticker. Warmed it up with a hair dryer on low for a minute and it peeled off quite nicely, without leaving the VOID markings behind (I looked closely at the sticker and it did have them). There was a very small amount of sticker residue left behind which cleaned up easily with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol. Game works great.

Hope this helps someone.
