To be somewhat on topic with regards to the price cuts, does anyone see Nintendo doing anything?  They're still charging $279.99 aren't they?

The real question is - do they have to?

While I can't really disagree with that, $279.99 for a Wii vs $299.99 for a PS3 or a 360 makes the Wii's price look quite inflated.

For those who dump on MS for their accessories...have you seen what Nintendo charges? Indifferent

And $2500 to be able to play any PC game with decent settings is absurd. Especially if it's going to be obsolete in 6 months.

Isn't the Wii $249?

Psssf, I have a little over 1000 in my computer now and play every game at max settings at 1440x900 (max my monitor does).  Yay!

But I do hope the wii goes down soon.  I need to buy one, and I don't really feel like paying 250 for a new one, or 200 for a used one at gamestop, especially now with price cuts from Sony and MS.

It still retails for $279.99 in Canada.  I did manage to pick mine up when they were $30 off at Future Shop though Big Smile

I'm still trying to decide what's more badass: the power of the Cell, or Blast Processing.

It is a really stupid move that an HD console is not HD out of the box because it does not have the required wires. Since Sony already does this so Microsoft probably thinks they can get away with it. It is a really stupid move on both companies to do this. They could have at least said it was to cut cost as an excuse. Do they even know what flexibility means? If they put the dual component/composite cable and left the HDMI I could understand, but this is ridiculous.

Well, they did just that. Here's the full quote:

"In order to offer the Xbox Elite to consumers at a reduced price, now €50/£30 less at $249.99/£199.99, we eliminated the inclusion of an HDMI cable. That said, we are confident that providing even better value for our premium console will allow people the flexibility to purchase the HDMI cable of their choice so they can enjoy the full benefits of our high-definition and 1080p experiences over Xbox Live."

Well HDMI cables r now cheap, but still, their is no excuse cutting something of what made the ELITE such a sold console.
