I'll agree that Braid left a lasting impression with me as well. It is such a well conceived game that is beautiful and wonderful to play with a thought provoking story. The $15 was very well spent and I am glad to have paid that money so the developer can make more games of this caliber.
But as for other games that mean a lot to me...I would have to say the orignal Legend of Zelda on the NES. Perhaps it is more for nostalgic reasons, but I put so much time into that game and it has so many nice memories attached with it. I could never part with it. Another game that really touched me was Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask. I think I actually cried at certain parts. I also must say that Fierce Diety Link is awesome!!! :D
The entire Half-Life series. Grew up with it and literally shed some tears at the end of Episode 2. After Episode 3 comes out and I beat it, I don't know what I'll do (it's the last in the series). :'(
Oblivion - I havent found a game yet that even comes close to the amount ime I have put into another game and enjoyed it - except maybe Morrowind
Well, Zelda: Ocarina of Time probably had a large effect on the person I am today because i spent hundreds of hours playing it as kid. Somtimes going back to play it gives me the chills.

I would probably have to say Diablo 2 because of the countless hours I have invested into that game. However I still play warcraft 3 with my friends quite often (i only play blizzard games for the pc) and we still have a lot of fun with that.
I'll have to say FFX as it was the first game I played that wasn't a sports game. I was hooked from the moment I saw a the trailer for it in EB Games just before it released. As soon as it came out I bought a PS2, the game and the guide.
If I had a second choice it would be Joe Montana's Sports Talk Football II. My dad and I co-oped the season mode. It was really the only way either of us could actually win a game, let alone beat it (if one can beat a sports game).

I'd probably put Oblivion at #2. I had 200+ hours and never even tried to beat it. I kinda liked it that way although one day I hope to go back and beat it.
