As gamers, we are constantly bombarded with choice. Choice of the game we wish to play, how we wish to play said game, and, subconsciously, we choose how good the game is. We are the critics. Every person uniquely makes the choice.
I recently finished Braid, and it was one of the meaningful games I've ever played. Maybe this is because I love games that are wide open to interpretation, as long as they mean something that can be deciphered. I won't ruin the ending for those who have yet to complete this masterpiece, but anyone who matches my description should play the self proclaimed, and wholly deserving of the title, "art-game."
It raises the question, though. What games have affected you like this? What games have made you think? What game meant the most to you?
Probably Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway. One of the most heart wrenching stories I've encountered.
Destroy All Humans

I loved that one too. The final cutscene really got to me.

Why the PS3 version when the xbox 360 version has better multiplayer. (Xbox live is better)
As for MGS I'm going to agree with you, the story is one of THE best in gaming, Gameplay is equally as great. Definatly looking foward to Metal Gear Rising because of how awesome MGS4 was.

The 360 limited edition was $49.99 new and the ps3 limited was was $19.99 new.
However,I would have bought ps3 anyway,I buy all multi platforms for ps3 since I spend more time on my ps3 than 360.I disagree that xbox live is better than psn,but thats just my opinion,I still love both systems.

To be honest I've never had a PS3, I've only ever played a PS3 online at my friends house. It was lacking so many features. Party chat, most people have mics, ECT. I've played MGS4. (Beat that game) played Killzone 2. (I've only played it Online) and a few other multiplats. The only thing holding me back from getting one is because it is so late in the console race we are already half way through these sets of consoles, making an investment this late would be dumb. Especially considering I'd only use it for the 7-8 exclusives I want to play on the PS3.
But, yeah if I owned a PS3 I'd buy multiplats on the Xbox 360 for achievements and Online Multiplayer. I was just curious because I couldn't see myself buying a multiplatform multiplayer focused game on the PS3, but thats just me.
I had a friend in high school. Even as a high schooler, I was proud of him. He came from a rough background, but was making good with his life, getting great grades, being part of competitions and getting to national levels, the works. He was a gaming guy, like me.
Before any classics series, back when it was RARE, he got Final Fantasy Tactics. I watched him play a few times, and after he beat it, finally convinced him to let me borrow it. We didn't have the 'net connection or strategy guides, I got to play, have fun, get stuck, ask him for help, etc. I promised him I'd take great care of it, as he was a true collector, wanted everything in mint condition.
There was a fire. Last I knew, it was suspected it was arson. I moved out of the area soon after, so I never heard otherwise. He was in the house, didn't make it out. Didn't know exactly what to do with the game, so I awkwardly took it back to the family and his little brother. A week later, the brother knocked on my door and said he thought his brother would want me to have it.
So, I can say without a doubt, that that copy of FFT is the game that has meant the most to me.
Planescape Torment made me think what the nature on man really meant.
God of War. I could play this game for a long time because I thought the Kratos was a jerk.
Finale Fantasy 2 I think where a couple of characters sacrifice themselves to save the group. I really sad there was no way to save them.

All i have to say about that is WOW.......
As for me, Im not attached to any of my games ...I could live without any of them really. I guess thats the life of a very casual gamer....
Brothers in Arms Hells Highway is that good? I should give it a go (on PS3), didnt know it was that good.
As for me its Metal Gear Solid (the first one) because of how deep the story is. Everything was perfect and i was young at the time so it really impacted me alot. I actually base all my goals around that game and see life in a similar way. Im an inspiring film maker so it really helps with all my stories and development. Honestly if i never played that game my life would be so much differnt and its hard to believe it changed me that much.
Dreamfall: The Longest Journey
Zoe was/is probably the only character I've ever felt attached to.
Gary Johnson For President 2012!
Mine would have to be....Micheal Jackson's Moonwalker on sega its brings so many memories when I look at its cover art
Well, as for the best stories, that would be FFIV, FFVII, FFX, and Cold Winter. Maybe KOTOR 1 and 2 as well. As for strictly "What game meant the most to you?", no contest: Everquest. I will never have another experience in gaming, or hell, probably in life, like EQ in the early 2000s. I would skip class, quit my job, ignored my girlfriends, ignored my friends, etc. Is this good? No, of course not, but at the time, it was the most important thing in my life, so I don't see how any other game could have "meant" more to me. And for the record, I got married during that time (and still am), and no, I didn't meet her through EQ. :)
