US vs Canada Region for DVD's and Blu-Rays

This may be a stupid question, but what is the difference between the movie listings that say "Canadian" and the ones that are just US?  I'm guessing it's just the packaging, and possibly different subtitles, but I just wanted to verify. 

PS.  I used the search function, so back off!

We have the same region for games and movies as the US.  My guess would be the spelling of words in menus and subtitles...and of course French.

Not always, I have a sealed Alliance  (Canadian branch of Echo Bay) Blu Ray Single Disc of Sin City that I want to trade but cannot list as the search engine only shows the American 2 disc...

Im fine listing it, and its still sealed just dont want you to overpay since its the single disc instead of the two disc...

The actual region is the same -- Canadian and US DVDs can be played in DVD players from either country with no problem.

The difference between Canadian and US DVDs usually involves packaging (Canadian discs are supposed to have French translations on the package to be sold in Quebec) and the subtitle languages that are provided.

Sometimes discs from different countries will have different special features - but that tends to be rare from my experience.  If the cover looks the same, then the English content on the disc is unchanged 99+% of the time.

Also, Canada has a different content rating system than the ratings in the US.
