didn't see the ign hype, but when i played this game, it BLEW ME AWAY. was awesome the whole way through.

I think IGN gave it a 9.9... making it the best game on the XBOX in that reviewers opinion.  Better than KOTOR? No way

Don't get me wrong, the game was unique and fun, but the fact that you could just hold the block button the entire game made it slightly easy

IGN - rates it 9.9 and the 2nd take IGN reviewer says 9.9 is under rated

It's a strange thing to consider, but I believe David Clayman may have underrated Jade Empire at a 9.9. There is no such thing as the perfect game, but there are a few rare gaming experiences that so transcend any failings, they might as well be considered perfect. KOTOR was easy to love, but it had a lot of faults. The genius of that game so outweighed the annoying issues that it remains a classic for just about every RPG fan. Guess what -- Jade's story is better, its combat system superior and its morality system is more complex than KOTOR.

10	Presentation A completely original universe, hard hitting combat, accessible controls, and the story in an RPG on Xbox.
9.5	Graphics The level of activity during a battle is astounding. Environments are beautiful and the characters are real enough to fall in love with. Slight camera issues prevent it from being a perfect score.
10	Sound The music is perfectly suited to the subject matter and the voices are expertly acted. A special appearance by John Cleese solidifies the 10.
10	Gameplay One of the greatest action RPG's of all-time. Combat is easy to learn but immeasurably deep.
10	Lasting Appeal A single game lasts at least 22 hours, and you will definitely play through more than once. The mini-games will make the hours fly by.

It was okay, but the plot took too long to get rolling and the combat consisted mostly of button-mashing.

I would agree, the plot started getting really good, then boom the game was over 1 hour later... ZERO REPLAYABILITY no "new game+" mode killed it.  No DLC as promised... another game held back by Microsoft's XBL empty promises
