What's a cavity?
w4rgasm:I had my wisdom teeth pulled... It wasn't bad at all. Painless. The only thing wrong with me afterward were my puffy cheeks - but I blended in perfectly with the squirrel community.
I'm worried about the part where they put you to sleep Michael Jackson style, I've had caps and for some reason w/ my nerves in my mouth, novacaine never works on my inner gums/teeth, only the outer. So when they drill I just grip the chair real hard and think happy thoughts.
I don't like the idea of being put to sleep w/ a drug and hoping I wake up...

Some of us were raised with the idea that brushing your teeth is all you need. I never learned about getting dental cleanings until I was an adult. A few caps so far for me not too bad, wisdom teeth is not something you can control, if they come in impacted you gotta yank em out.
Aren't you in your teens wet? Seems a bit young to need something like a root canal! I haven't heard much good about them (who has?) but I doubt they're a big deal with all the Novocaine they'll give you I'm sure.
Dental visits weren't paramount when I was growing up, but brushing was, and that got me through incident free until 22, when I got my first cavity. I had that addressed during my lunch break at work...lol.

you're welcome
This thread makes my teeth hurt.
I have had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled, and It happened so fast I had to ask the doctor if he did anything. I only ran into trouble when my bottom right snapped, but the numbing they gave me had me feeling nothing. The entire procedure probably took me 12 minutes.

Were they impacted? My dentist was talking about going "under"? I don't mind some yanking...

You wouldn't even know you were dead. That's kinda a nice way to go.
sure anytime.
\I made my xbox live avatar to look like Sean Connery
@hexpane: All four where impacted. I am not sure how bad, but the top ones I never even broke the gumline, the bottom ones did though. As for pain.... Prior to the operation I was suffering from excruciating pain, I literally got into the feedle position sometimes. It was that bad. After the surgery I felt nothing, no pain. It is different for every person, but modern medicine has gotten better.
As for drugs, the basic numbing stuff needle + cotton swab. That was probably the worst part, I just hate needles going into my mouth. I took the laughing gas, but since I get so stressed out in the seat, it had no effect whatsoever, so I just had to calm myself. I literally felt nothing though, and I wish I didn't get the gas, so i could brag that I didn't need it (manly lol). I also got pain killers, but they just made me itchy, and I never felt any pain, so I threw them out.
As for the mouth bleeding, well you gotta take it easy and get some time off, otherwise you can give yourself drysocket. Also my bleeding lasted all day (rare), so I just through some teabags on to finally stop it.
I don't think you would even need to go under, unless you got those nasty horizontal impacts.
Expect the Combine, some water, a few boxes, and one hella long level.
Hehe, I just started re-playing the Half Life series, and I'm in Half-Life 2 now... I'm on the level Root Kanal... its one pimpin level.

Thanks for the info. My dentist says her wisdom teeth were sideways/impacted like mine. She ended up getting an IV but she was not fully under. She said she could see, hear but was uncaring and felt nothing. I'm scheduled for January... oh well
I had a new perm crown put on today. The most painful part besides the rubbing of cotton and metal on the nub to clean it... was the cement. It goes on cold, and I have hot/cold sensitive teeth. So when they dumped on the cold cement, it felt like an ice pick going into my jaw and the back of my head.
It ended quickly tho, only about 1 minute of agonizing total spine pain. Now I just have a headache. :D
WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA...
