I admit my suggestion was on one extreme side. I like the idea of finding a way to get more people entered AND reward those that play more because they are in a challenge. I know it will depend on how many prizes are offered.
I am not sure how I feel about limiting it to the top 10. I would suggest considering a percentage of those that enter. Maybe top 10 to 20%? As soon as the competition starts everyone will know how many slots would be eligible. And there will be a bigger push to get into those slots (and the more slots, the more pushing and shoving that will occur at the top!). Yes, I am trying to to get more people entered in the challenge to actually compete. In this last one, most of us sat back and watched the top 4 people pump out about 25% of the entire GS increase of all 126 participants (the total was in the neighborhood of 340,000).
Thank you for not just ignoring the concept. Instead you tried to find a way that it might be incorporated into Goozex's goals. No matter what Goozex decides, I will enter it!
Congrats to bs000 for the win in this.But I gotta admit it's such a massive kick in the balls to get within 200 points of the lead after him saying "I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel!" only to watch him throw up a few thousand points over the next few days. Total morale killer for me in the end. Made me lose my motivation to keep trying, especially because only first place got the game.
Out of all the contests I've been in, this has got to be the hardest one to take 2nd place in because no matter how hard I tried, I still don't get the game. I like the idea of 3 random prizes, but it kind of sucks that somebody who played 3 games and only may haved scored 100 points can get a prize equal to the grand prize and all I get out of this is 5 trade credits. I'm grateful that I'm getting a prize at all, but it sucks sooooo much being so close to a free game (one that I actually HAVEN'T played, unlike a good number of the contestants) only to lose out in the end.
I'm hoping next time a contest like this goes down, more than just first place gets a really sweet prize.
Good game, everybody. I doubt I'll ever participate on the level I did here, mainly because I burned through so many of the easy point games...I'll never have a chance again. But hey, I'm sure I'll join in for moral support anyways. Thanks for getting me back in front of my TV again. I still can't believe I threw up 25,000 points in less than a month. All for naught. hahaha.

I was too lazy/impatient to wait for a new transfer cable setup and just left it like that.

I agree that in future contests a weighted chance at winning the game might increase participation.
I know it'd probably be a bit more work mathematically, but instead of just the top 10 or top 10-20% having a chance, perhaps working it out so that everyone gets 1 vitual entry "raffle ticket" for each 100 points of gamerscore (or something similar). I still think rewarding 1st place or so in some way makes sense (like with trade credits, etc), but with the "ticket" method EVERY player has an incentive to keep trying regardless of their ranking.
You could assign tickets sequentially, for example:
bs000 would have got ticket numbers 1-285 (for his 28,542 score, or 285 tickets)Joe Cammissa would have got tickets 286-535 (for his 25,085 score, ie 250 tickets)
and so on...
Then you just use a random number generator to pick the winners.
Regardless, I really appreciate Goozex sponsoring this contest (and hopefully future contests), because these can be a lot of fun.

Also, I'm seriously looking into that Modern Warfare 2 system coming out in November. This 120GB hard drive just ain't cuttin it anymore. Plus $399 for a new system, with 250GB memory, TWO controllers AND a game? Hell, that's well worth the price of admission... If only I can scrounge up $400.
