I think the most important thing right off the bat is that if you got defensive and hostile at the OP's post, you're one of the guys who should take a long hard look at your posts and your contributions to this site.

Wow, talk about a straw man tactic.  Anyone who disagrees w/ the OP is guilty?  Isn't that McArthyism transmogrified?

I'm pretty sure anyone who took it personally needs to at least consider that they may be one of those people. There's a big difference betweeen disagreeing and getting defensive/hostile.

I'm pretty sure the initial comment/accusation was a blanket one encompassing the community as a whole.  Being a happy member of said community makes you (you being all members) a target, thus warranting defense, no?

The fact remains that this has been little more than empty words going on the offensive against the Goozex community, and as I thought about it yesterday, possibly no more than a well played troll.  There really is no argument here that the Goozex community is any form of bad, yet 14 pages 15 pages in its defense have arisen.

Well played OP.  Well played.

Who are you talking to?

IWX: Yes, but that's just the way I see it. Movie Make sure to include that in your next off topic post.

I'd have to agree with Kduboh on this one.  We got played by a troll.  How did it happen? Because we *ARE* a nice community.  Harsh, angry bully communities never get played or trolled.  Strong supportive communities like The Goozex are the ones who suffer baseless troll attacks, and fall for it.

Hats off the the troll, you got me, I fed you, don't come back hungry for more, we know you have a full belly.

You guys really believe this? It's not a troll if he's only stating his views on this forum. And no not all of you are nice, neither am I. Whatever though, if it makes you guys feel better then yes it was a troll, don't feed him, etc.

I disagree that we 'got played' - because we're still here talking.

Any system that cannot handle inspection is not sound.

Any forum that collapses upon questioning is not worth joining.

I think that over these many pages we have seen loads of positive and negative aspects of the forums and its membership in general.  Life is not a light switch of good & evil, it is a continuum of values and decisions and so on that we make every day.

There are things I've said here I regret, things I've apologized for but don't regret having said, things I've seen that are clear weaknesses, but mostly I've seen that there is a really good core group of people.  As I said, for me the big issue is more of age and interests than anything else.

I'm all for continued looking into oneself as a community, but I haven't seen any evidence that the community has been anything but supportive.

Sarcasm here is a given, but so isn't this community's helpfulness.  Until someone comes forward with something to the contrary, it appears that the community as a whole is just being egged on by baseless claims, hence a potential troll.

That's how I see it. I know I haven't been around as much or as long as most of you but I have yet to see a thread where someone asked a question and it wasn't answered. How they answered it is irrelevant to me after the fact.

Well played OP.  Well played.

If you read my initial post and my subsequent ones there after you would see that my comment was not directed at the community as a whole at all. As I said several times already, the humor/sarcas/etc. is all fine in its time and place. What it shouldn't have a place in though is those threads realated to customer support or the help sections and those threads with new users. I am not attacking the Goozex community one bit and I am amazed at the inferences people are making about my statement. Did they simply read the title of my post and then just reply?

The issue here is about the content and community as it relates to the customer service of this website. A user community should probably be seperate from the customer service team. It appears almost clearly evident from my standpoint as is demonstrated in numerous threads that the community seems incapable of properly handling customer service related issues.Unfortunately they aren't seperate and I think BOTH are hurting because of it in a big way.

If you went to any other customer service website online: HP, Sony, Zappos, Palm, name one...... and recieved the language that some people do here along with obnoxious pictures, from the official supprot channel,  would you purchase products from that company again? The problem here is that Goozex is not only a user community but it is also a company that needs to provide support for its services.

People shouldn't be offended or on the defense about my comments. The fact that this converstation is as large as it is should be enough impedous for the adminstration of this site to give this matter some serious thought. May be the community really is being hurt by these actions? If it wasn't would this converstation be as large as it is?

Wow, talk about a straw man tactic.  Anyone who disagrees w/ the OP is guilty?  Isn't that McArthyism transmogrified?  Someone can make a thread, bashing the community, declaring gloom and doom, calling people names, and if you disagree and instead think the community is good .. you are guilty of being a jerk?  Sorry but that is completely illogical.

I support the goozex community.  I was a new user, a N00b, VERY RECENTLY, the community was very friendly to me, I was friendly to many n00bs.  I took issue w/ the OP and his few supporters that somehow the goozex community was "bad", "broken", "Jerks", "Obnoxious" and gasp.... "Sarcastic"

Sarcasm is not evil, sarcasm is not illegal, sarcasm is not a sin.  Judging others as "jerks" is indeed a sin.  Look inward.  Why is it some users can not handle sarcasm, or why is it they get their "feelings hurt" when someone points out that they ignored the common courtesy of reading the FAQ?

Now back to the "definition of public" ...  we aren't debating which definition is most fitting.  There is no debate.  The LEGAL DEFINITION of a PRIVATE INTERNET FORUM is all that matters, because that is the topic.  Debating the semantics about what some poster wants people to define this forum as is meaningless and will change nothing.

-- No one bashed this community, is giving criticism really that hard for you? and the way you speak your insisting that by anyone AGREEING with the OP is guilty

-- Using sin as a noun, and as far as im concerned this isnt a religous argument, and i do not think this is a Bad, broken,or obnoxious community, and jerks is not an adjective, i think some users can be obnoxious and sarcastic, arnt they always? i dont think the entire forums of goozex are horrible people, just there are some people who could use an attitude change

-- Now back to the "definition of public" i really dont care what you think you are debating in your mind, i am right, the way i used public is still very relevant that any person can view this forum,

Wait, since when did we refer to goozex as 'THE GOOZEX'?

Problem is, you aren't the only one posting in the thread "against the goozex community". We are speaking to more than one user.

Your point is very fair, though, about the customer support sections. I can't speak for anybody else but I'll keep my smart remarks to other threads. ;)

Although I don't recall every posting something sarcrastic to a help thread, but who knows.

People shouldn't be offended or on the defense about my comments.

I wasn't offended at you nor the argument you presented. I am offended at some of the incredibly broken logic by some of the users in this thread lol

In good faith, here's an umbrella. Umbrella

Fair play, but I meant questions that were given replies. I'll rephrase it, then.

"I've never seen a question, which, having been replied to, was not answered."

edit: Since I see a sarcastic reply coming on, I will also qualify this by saying that it is not my life's goal to read every single thread on this site. I only read what is linked from the front page so take that however you want it but I've had plenty of questions answered in a very short period of time by the same people who are being complained about in this thread. Thus my participation in this thread. The proof is in the pudding, as it were.
