Hexpane: Con818:-- That was NOT the type of public we were talking about as followed by my definition you all very noticably cut out of your quotes Your definition is irrelevant. The fact is Goozex is a private forum, as Goozex OWNS and Operates it as they see fit within legal limits. Con818:you shouldnt go out and flame people to death I've never flamed anyone to death, and I've never once been warned or modded about flaming anyone here. Again w/ the hypothetical accusations. Hypothetical accusations are..... TROLLING. Con818: i do not care what was said in that post, in fact, i never even read it Yet you quoted and referenced it? Again, that is trolling Con818:sure you and the other 20 posters with large numbers can sit here and call me wrong, and say that because im a minority in this subject they must be right and what i say really doesnt matter... shoot for it.. youre tough right? What are you talking about? I've repeatedly stated that post count is meaningless. Saying the Goozex community is "bad" and full of "jerks" and "obnoxious" is what YOU did, not us. We didn't call you a jerk or obnoxious or suggest you were somehow poison to new users. You ignore facts, ignore your own quotes, accuse us in hypothetical cases, and then admit to not even reading things you are quoting? That is straw man trolling at its worst guy. I really tried to keep it light hearted and not get down to this quote battle, but being called an obnoxious jerk for posting silly comments about videogames and then being told that I should consider "hurt feelings" because of funny pictures is just nonsense. I have a particular issue with low post count users who repeatedly bring up higher post counts as some sort of evil badge or scarlet letter, and in the same breath, berating the community and commenting on how the community should change... when they are not even that active in said community. It's not as bad, but similar to when new users come to the forums and make threads about how "Goozed is doomed, broken, flawed, and fatal!" Take some time brahs, Zen into it a lil before casting judgements. You don't see me on the BMX forums telling them to stop doing handle bar flips.

This whole thread was a pretty interesting read for me considering this is one of the first threads I've read in a few weeks. I think the most important thing right off the bat is that if you got defensive and hostile at the OP's post, you're one of the guys who should take a long hard look at your posts and your contributions to this site.I agree with him on his mention that it's a fact there are a few pretty big douchebags here on the site. I know first hand with that sticker thread that there are quite a few total dickheads here, but in something like that, I can fully understand the warring arguements and points of view, but when it comes to new users asking questions, whether or not it's been answered once that year or 10 times that day, if you don't have a constructive answer, shut the f**k up and let somebody else answer the question.Instead of being an ass about things, post a concise and helpful answer and then politely instruct the user to use the search function next time or link to the FAQ. If you're gonna be rude about things, stop going to the help forum.Maybe staff here can look into an alternative way to have questions answered in the help forum. Give access to reply in that forum only to set users who have proven in the past that they are willing to help users, no matter how many times the question has been asked. On general discussion, I would expect nothing less from a message board than to have bitching, stupidity and random pictures, but in the help forum it is counterproductive and can easily scare off users. I've talked to a handful of people who've asked about the site and made mention of browsing the forums and seeing some real rude replies to questions from people who just wanted help
Bottom line, don't post if you aren't going to help. Your smartass comment (no matter how funny it may be in your head) doesn't help.

Chillax guys! And I mean both sides of the argument. No need to get bent out of shape over some 1's and 0's over the internet. Life is too short for that.
I only signed up with this site a few months ago but I enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. It's a nice release from the rigors of everyday life where I can read about games or random things and have a nice conversation with others while at the same time being entertained! =) I would like to get to know you guys a little more, and I have enjoyed reading various threads around the forums. Perhaps I may participate in a contest or two sometime. However, I have come to notice, that in this thread and in others, that there are a few people who need to lighten up a little. No one knows everything, and we all start somewhere. Belittling someone with a snide or rude remark will get you nowhere except for self satisfaction.
I agree with various parts of Kenny's, Dtp's and JoeCam's views. Moreover, I think that maybe there could be a subset of users who are around just to help newbies and other people. They could be kind of like the Xbox Ambassadors...except they would be Goozex Ambassadors! (Goozadors?...=P)
Hope this post is coherent...I should really stop posting at 3 AM in the morning O_O
I'm going to say something again, since I apparently love adding to my post count since I have such a high post count. I've been around quite a few forums and online communities. I've been on and off on various forums about different things, from video games, to Anime, to wrestling, to one based on parodies about video games. I've seen some hysterical stuff throughout my time, and some more helpful things. To be truthful, I do think that this is probably the only forum I've actually come back to after quitting for a while. Yes, despite my huge ego... er, I mean post count, there was a time when I left and thought I would have left for good (like I always have for other forums). But something lured me back, maybe it was the memories of everything here or the welcoming environment or how random things can get at one point or time.
To be fair, most of the time I've been on other forums they were really just talking about one specific thing, or simply playing silly forum games (Last post wins, This or That, etc.), or making pointless clans/groups and trying to uphold them (one forum in particular that did this, and got old fast). On here, we can stick to almost anything and everything. Sure, the majority of it is strictly about video games or Goozex, but I'm pretty sure we've run the gambit on probably every topic imaginable. The forums pretty much let you discuss anything that can be on your mind, and for the most part people will respond. Sure, they may not last as long as the video game threads, but you get to see another side of the regular users, and even users that never seem to post at all.
I'm not a person that likes to argue with people, I find it quite pointless. I really would rather a person believe whatever opinion they want. I like to state what I think and that's it. I'm not going to get into a petty argument and get angry over whatever it is. I'd rather go through this life avoiding that which angers you and focusing on what makes you happy. If I don't like to listen to something, I won't. If I don't like to look at something, I won't. If I don't like to do something, I won't. I take the consequences, deal with them, and move on. If you seriously no longer find it interesting to read these forums, then don't. I've done it before with other forums, they no longer interested me, so I left. If no one seemed to post on them, I left.

Prediction:
- only mod / admin allowed to answer questions
- Minimum 25 character posting
- Remove *all* images (incl sigs, etc)
...
Forums would drop to 3 posts per month outside of questions...

you know what i think abo
I will pull a G-Nitro and threaten to leave if something like this ever happens .
I agree with that. It is very rare that I stick around in any forum because of those very reasons. I must say tho, I have had a really good time being around this forum and this site. Cheez is a good dude!

What? Cheeznrice? He's a good dude. I was responding to an earlier part of this thread...

Haha. I know who you're talking about. I'm just making fun of Cheez
AHHH Gotcha LOL! I really have to start posting here more, I usually do most of my posting in the Talkradar forums. The set up here is good tho
dtp11:I think perhaps a friendly email from the G-Team to all of the inactive mods, asking them to kindly give up their status to a more active one, would be good. And give them a "You were once a mod - thanks" or "Former Volunteer" badge, and/or a few free trade tokens as a "token" of Goozex's appreciation! Then assign new, friendly, helpful, fair/unbiased, and active mods (like cheez, he fits most of those qualifications).
mafafu:A sound idea. Just remember, we already have our token Canadian.
dtp11:and ganging up on someone; definitely NOT okay.
mafafu:Okay everyone, time to gang up on dt... oh wait, did I just type that?
I am going to take this topic back on track...
I can understand where new users would be put off by a few sarcastic comments but nothing has been viscous or down right rude. I just wish that a some of the newer user would first read the FAQ setion of the site before posting a question that is actually answered on the FAQ. Like IWX and few others have pointed out that when a user does post a question on the forum it has a verified answer with in 10 minutes. I know that the staff members are busy with maintaing the site and other aspects of the business that they can't spend every minute answering the same questions 10 times a day. So they look to the "Public" community in order to help them out and realive some of the load.
Now - yes there are topics that get way, way , way off base but a lot of those are all in good fun. But I have never seen anyone EVER be put down just because they are new. A lot of the new posters just read through the forum and hardly ever post. IMO I love this forum even with the thread jackers (guilty as charged) and other way off base topics because at least this forum has something that a lot of other forums I post in lack... this forum has a sense of community.
*steeps of my soap box* - Well at least I'm still taller then IWX
