A charge base you say?  I do recall seeing one of those while shopping for my PS3, but never bothered to get one.  I guess it's such a rare issue that I never bothered.  I'm still trying to find local 2 player games as it is.

Another option is to use a PC or Laptop USB port.    Any USB port will charge the thing, so if you leave one of those powered on regularly it can be used.       You can use even use it to game on your PC if you get the drivers for it.

I can't believe I didn't think of that...I did move my Playstation mic over to my PC for use before (best mike I've had)...and I do have a tower running nearly 24/7 right next to the PS3 now.  Problem solved!

I'll have to look into gettin a bluetooth receiver for the PC, maybe I could control the media center with it!  Might be clunky though.

Pizza guys are getting worse and worse looking. I guess all the good ones went into porn.

You have to take the 360 with a grain of salt, PS3 is very quickly approaching 360's user base. All of the "exlcusives" for 360 are on PC as well. Most of them you wouldn't want to play on 360 anyway. Not trying to start a flamewar but I'll take a KB+mouse over anything. Anyway, the reason more people play games on 360 is because of the userbase for now. I'll put it this way, pay to play vs free online. And also Resistance 2 is a perfect example of PSN integrity, having 60 people online multi. Also, all of those "exclusives" are making their way to the PS3 (at least with the newest wave of games) and 360 will be left with roughly 3 exlusives out of the upcoming must have games.

tl;dr 360 for playing children online and pay to play, PS3 for more adults than normal and free online

Agree with just about everything (its why I couldn't bear to buy a 360 while I have a fine PC), and I do agree with the PS3 base quickly catching up to the 360, but I'll also concede that the 360's online and community integration is a bit better than what the PS3 offers, though not $50 a year better.

I am curious to see what the numbers are as I haven't seen anything in ages.  People like me probably skew it a bit with my 3:1 360 to PS3 ratio Tongue Tied

I can't really agree with the pc/360 exclusives thing though.  My PC and laptops sure as heck won't run them Tongue Tied so I'm really only left with my 360s.  Keep in mind I don't really enjoy shooters so the exclusives I look for are generally RPGs, preferably turn based or strategy which play perfectly on a console controller.

I think MS was smart to secure exclusive rights for some of the games even if it is just timed as I'd imagine a majority of multiplatform owners will probably play it on the system that has it first.  If the games came out on the PS3 first I'd play them there, I can't imagine I'm the only one that feels the need to "play it right now" when a hot exclusive (timed or not) comes out.  I wouldn't mind seeing Sony throw some bucks around to secure some exclusives as the exclusives I've played are some of the nicest looking games I've seen this generation.

Kenny - I agree about the online/community integration.  It's nice, but at $60+ (in Canada) it's not really worth it considering we get a stripped down XBL gold.  Which is why it's nice to know a few people in the US Pizza

I am surprised that no one has brought this up:

I vote for the PS3 because of reliability alone. When my 3rd Xbox 360 began to die on me for a 3rd time, I said to hell with this and traded it in for a PS3. I don't care if Microsoft is paying for the repairs, I am sick of having to deal with it. I dropped all my hardware off at Gamestop, and started trading all of my Xbox games for PS3s through this site.

My PS3 is abour 10-times quieter, the games look great, I am no longer paying $50 for online play (which I rarely used this past year) and now I have a Blu-Ray player.

I am EXTREMELY dissapointed that I will not be playing Mass Effect 2 or GoW 3, however. :(

Yes the PS3 has the YLOD. I'll admit it's not as bad as 360 launch. Thing is he's buying a NEW xbox, that means hes getting a jasper. Hate to break it to ya but YLOD is currently more out of control then the jasper chip RROD. The only reason you're having problems is because they send you a refurb of the same type xbox. You send in a falcon you get a falcon... Send in a jasper you get a jasper. You're stuck in an endless stream of non-jaspers.

Go on the PS3 official boards. There is at least 2 threads of people complaining about the YLOD at any given time...

Actually, the 1st XBOX replacement I received was a brand-new replacement, due to the fact that it was replaced with a store-bought warranty (I know, because I grabbed a new one off the shelf and handed it to them). I believe this replacement was 2nd or 3rd generation though. It died and I received a replacement from Microsoft (although I thought it was new too - maybe not).

I was not aware of the YLOD issues, although no one I know has had this issue, and every single person I know that has had an xbox has received the RROD at some point or another.

The RROD has been much more prevalant than the YLOD has been. The PS2 had a ton of hardware issues as well, but the current state of the "information superhighway" (blogs etc) make the problems of the 360 seem much worse. In reality the PS2 was just as bad.

As far as the OP, when I had both consoles, I chose a 360 version of a game for the achievements and comfort of the controller.

The YLOD instances I've heard of (not many) always seem to happen when new firmware is released.  I seldom breathe whilst updating my firmware.

Otherwise, it's pretty worry free.

My cable box has a USB port on it; I use that to charge the PS3 controller when i need to since I can only charge my DS3 with the PS3 when the system is actually on.

Cheeznrice, stop spreading misinformation, you dont have to buy a new controller when the battery inside it dies, all you have to do is contact Sony, who sends you a new battery, and you unscrew the back and just put in the new one.

That's it.

And don't ever try to make the YLOD sound as big as the RROD as a means of protecting your system. YLOD seems big because a couple of hundred vocal people on the forums are complaining about while the RROD was a huge system wide problem.

Odd, I never had one RROD and I had mine for two years. If you have a gaming PC I would suggest buying the PS3. But, honestly... Who has a gaming PC and still wants a console. PC is so much better then a console with mods, maps. I perfer console gaming, but I can say without a doubt I WANT to have mods, and maps...

But, if you want don't have a gaming PC and want a console go with 360...

Could it be possible he did not know that or did try that?

Because thtguy, the PC isnt what it used to be. Everyone of Sony's exclusives is not on the PC, and i will not wait 5 months to get a port of a console game and then have it be buggy and worthless.

Also, i want to rent/trade games, something thats not really possible with newer games.

And if he doesn't know you can just call sony for a free battery, why would he post here saying you must buy a new controller
